My practice is limited to the appraisal of diamonds and gemstones, fine jewelry (including watches) and sterling silver flatware. I have performed appraisals for the US Treasury Department Customs Service (now Department of Homeland Security), have testified as an expert in the California Superior Courts of Contra Costa, and have been engaged as an expert in numerous cases. I have appraised the inventories of jewelry stores and the jewelry department of a nationally-known San Francisco-based luxury emporium. My practice is carried out in conformity with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice of the Appraisal Foundation and the Principles of Appraisal Practice and Code of Ethics of the American Society of Appraisers and the Master Gemologist Appraiser program. My academic background is a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Fresno State University, with two years of post-graduate work in the field of Measurement and Evaluation. I entered the jewelry industry in 1980, first as the owner of a small retail jewelry shop, then as the owner of a full-service fine jewelry store. During that time, I earned my Graduate Gemologist degree from the Gemological Institute of America. From 1986-88 I hosted a weekly radio call-in talk show on station KATY called A Rainbow of Jewels. I obtained training in appraising from the Accredited Gemologist s Association, where I was certified as a Master Gemologist Appraiser and from the American Society of Appraisers, of which I am a Senior Member. In 1990, I closed the retail part of my business to become a full-time appraiser. In 1997 I earned a Certified Insurance Appraiser (CIA TM ) rating from Jewelry Insurance Appraisal Institute. I have taught and developed appraisal courses for the American Society of Appraisers since 1989 in a number of venues across the United States, including George Washington University, Rhode Island School of Design (Brown University) and University of California at Irvine. I was co-developer and have taught a 10-day jewelry appraisal course (GJ216 Advanced Gemological Appraisal) four times in Beijing and Shanghai at the invitation of the People s Republic of China. Courses that I have taught for the Personal Property discipline are: The Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice, PP/GJ201 Introduction to Personal Property Valuation, PP/GJ 202 Personal Property Valuation Methodology Research & Analysis and PP/GJ 203 Appraisal Writing. I have also been co-developer and teacher for ASA Gems and Jewelry courses Insurance Documentation for the Retail Jeweler, GJ205 Gems and Jewelry Appraisal Theory, Methods and Application, GJ 206 Gems and Jewelry Appraisal Techniques and Standards, and GJ 301 Advanced Estate Appraisal Seminar. Professional Profile Page 1 of 1

Currently I develop and teach workshops on appraisal methods and other appraisal subjects, including basic principles of value, data collection and analysis in the sales comparison approach method, appraising for estates, and appraising for insurance coverage. Professional Profile Page 2 of 2
