DESIGNERS Dante Bonuccelli Dante Bonuccelli s focus is designing buildings, interiors, and products in Europe, United States, and Asia. In 1998 he founded his architecture and design office, Avenue Architects, in Milan where he works today. He is a design consultant for Unifor, Dada, Mobimex, and Schönbuch. Bonuccelli has received numerous awards for his architecture and products. His designs have been shown in exhibitions in Italy, Argentina, United States, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Japan, and Singapore. Jehs+Laub Markus Jehs and Jürgen Laub met each other during the academic studies of industrial design at the Hochschule für Gestaltung Schwaebisch Gmuend and became friends after an internship in New York in 1990. After they graduated in 1992 they set up Jehs+Laub in 1994. From that time on they started to design furniture and lamps for Italian companies, such as Cassina, Ycami and Nemo. Year by year they expanded the cooperation with international brands like Thonet, Fritz Hansen, Belux, Renz, Stelton, Fambuena, Schönbuch and Cor. Markus Dörner Markus Dörner started his design career as a professional cabinet maker, but later he switched to studying product design with Prof. Werner Sauer at the HAWK Hildesheim, Germany. After an initial period in Burkhard Vogtherr s office in France, he continued his design experience at the Sedus Company, one of the leading German office furniture producers for four years. He then joined Burkhard s study again in 2011 for an approved freelance collaboration. Wolfgang C.R. Mezger Wolfgang C.R. Mezger, after years of working as a freelance designer, opened his own design studio in 1983 in Eislingen near Stuttgart, Germany. Mezger and his team work in Goppingen for internationally renowned companies in the United States, Italy, The Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Great Britain, Switzerland, and Germany. So far his studio has received more than 50 international Design Awards such as Best of NeoCon and Good Design Award, Chicago; Roter Punkt and reddot; Dutch Furniture Award, Amsterdam; Roscoe Design Award, New York; Design Center, Stuttgart. Justus Kolberg Justus Kolberg has quickly established himself as a well-known designer. His remarkable career is the result of his intelligent designs, which he incorporates into modern technical architecture. Kolberg earned his industrial design degree from Muthesius School in Kiel, Germany in 1990 and held positions in Spain and Germany before striking out on his own. He has since become a successful freelance designer working with a multitude of international companies. He has received many awards such as, 1st prize Design Champion ; 1st prize Design-Week-Award Great Britain ; IDEA-Gold Industrial Design Excellence Award ; and reddot nine times. Jonathan Prestwich After finishing school, Jonathan Prestwich started his design career in Boston, Massachusetts where he stayed briefly before heading to France to work with one of Davis veteran designers Burkhard Vogtherr. After six years with Burkhard as a mentor, Jonathan moved to London where he opened his own studio. Jonathan has brought his experience together with a desire to make products for the next generation of users, fusing influences from nature and modern technology, with a goal to create simple, elegant, innovative products. 147 148
DESIGNERS Jess Sorel Jess Sorel has been in the contract furniture industry for nearly twenty years. Based on his extensive experience he established sorelstudio. The studio was founded on the idea that collaboration is a powerful tool that drives projects to become more then just limited thoughts of a single individual. Jess holds numerous design and utility patents and his work has been featured in Abitare, Azure, Blueprint, Contract, Domus, Dwell, Fast Company, I.D. Magazine, Interior Design, and Metropolis. Burkhard Vogtherr As one of the most well known European designers, Burkhard Vogtherr has won about every award in Europe and the United States for seating design. Davis relationship with Burkhard goes back to the mid 80 s when he designed Motion, a new type of ergonomic chair. Since then he has worked with multiple international companies such as Arco, Cappellini, Sellex, and Girsberger and won many awards.
