General Notes: Clyde John Kinney (Died September 13, 2008) Wauseon: Clyde John Kinney, age 91, of Wauseon, Ohio, died Saturday, September 13, 2008, at Fulton Manor in Wauseon. Prior to his retirement he had been a school teacher in Orwell, Ohio, Whitehouse, Pettisville, Chesterfield Twp. and the Pike-Delta-York school systems. In all he had served as a teacher and administrator for 36 years. After retirement he substitute taught for another 19 years at Wauseon and Delta. He was born in Wauseon, Ohio on June 29, 1917, the son of the late John and the late Anna (Knierim) Kinney. On August 24, 1940 he married Berneatice Balser, and she preceded him in death on March 25, 2008. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Wauseon. He was also a member of the Fulton County Retired Teachers Assoc., the Ohio Retired Teachers Assoc., and was a life member of the Fulton County Sportman's Club. He graduated from Wauseon High School in 1935. In 1939 he graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree, and in 1962 he graduated from Toledo University with a Masters in Education. Surviving is one son, Richard (Carolyn) Kinney of Wauseon; one grandson Rod Kinney of Dallas, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Harland Kinney. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon, with Pastor Hap Itson, officiating. Interment will follow in the Wauseon Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Christ United Methodist Church or the Clyde J. Kinney Scholarship Fund, c/o P-D-Y Local Schools, 504 Fernwood, Delta, Ohio 43515. Clyde married Berneatice M. BALSER on 24 Aug 1940, daughter of Ray S. BALSER and Wavel SENTLE. Berneatice was born on 23 Oct 1919 in Wauseon, Fulton Co. Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Larry and Bill. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, Wauseon, with Rev. Donna Stutzman officiating.
