HISTORY Embrace the Past--Be a part of the Future! Marina Village is in the heart of the original resort area of White Bear which became popular as far back as the 1860 s. Resorts and pavilions such as eip, Ramaley, and Hotel Chateaugay were all located on the west bay of White Bear ake in close proximity to rail lines. John O. Johnson Circa 1900, approx. 25 years old. In 1896, John O. Johnson began Johnson Boat Works on the property that is now the location of Marina Village. The Johnson family made and repaired sailboats for more than 100 years as one of the premier sailboat manufacturers. The history of the Marina Village area has also included such enterprises as the St. Paul Auto Club (now White Bear Shopping Center), Amundson Boat Works (now ions Park), White Bear Boat Yard, eaman s Boat Yard, Ramaley s Boat Yard, and White Bear Boat Works which continues to operate near Highway 61 and Goose ake. In 1998, the City of White Bear ake acquired the Johnson Boat Works property, and in 2009 selected DENNIS Properties as the developer of Marina Village.
