If your co-op is celebrating a 15 th, 20 th, 25 th 35 th, etc anniversary in 2012, please let us know. Co-operative Housing Federation of Toronto Inc. The Green Award - Level 1 The Green Award has 2 levels. The level 1 award is a plaque to recognize co-ops that have taken the first steps of becoming an environmentally sustainable co-op. To qualify a co-op will have to be able to check off 7 of the following 10 items. Please write in the year the activity was established. Activities must be complete or must be well on the way to completion (ie. contracts signed, or money down, not just at the planning phase). Have an efficient recycling program used by all members Year established Have a co-op composting program used by all members Year established A ban on chemical fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides Year established Created new green spaces on co-op grounds by planting trees or making new garden beds Year established Replacement of all (or 75% minimum) toilets and faucet heads to certified low flow/water saving models Year established Replacement of all (or 75% minimum) building and communal area lights to certified energy efficient lights Year established Adopted an environmental policy for all co-op members and staff that includes a commitment to recycle and reduce waste and implement buying policies that ban environmentally harmful products and practices Year established Shown a commitment to the further education of all members on how to live sustainably. Co-operative Housing Federation of Toronto Inc. The Green Award - Level 2 The Green Award has 2 levels. You must have achieved Level 1 to qualify for Level 2. Level 2 recognizes co-ops who have gone beyond the basics. They have completed a special project which proves the community s strong commitment to the green future of their co-op. To qualify a co-op would have to be able to check off 3 out of the following 6 items. Please write in the year action was taken. Actions must be complete or well on the way to completion (ie. contracts signed, or money down, not just at the planning or brainstorming phase). Replacement of all washers and/or dryers with certified energy and/or water efficient appliances Year action taken Conversion of parking spaces to any of the following a car share (e.g.autoshare), bike or garden space Year action taken Updating the building or buildings in ways that would improve the property and be environmentally beneficial. Examples include - replacing all (or 75% minimum) windows with certified energy efficient models, replacing boilers with certified energy and/or water efficient models, modifying heating systems to be less wasteful and adjustable, replacing an old roof with a grey or green one. Rainbow Circle Co-op will be hosting an Open House on Saturday March 24 th, 2012 between the hours of 10:00 am & 4:00 pm. Our complex is comprised of 3 & 4 bedroom townhouse units. Full time Community Co ordinator Location: By de Molen Co operative Homes, Brampton, ON We are seeking a qualified and experienced individual who will assist our Co operative Housing membership with our challenging and innovative community. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years experience in the non profit sector. Reporting to the Personnel Committee/Board of Directors, duties to include but not limited to preparing and administering budgets, maintain books using New Views including Accts. Receivable, Accts. Payable, Payroll, Government reports, as well as assisting the Board of Directors in the preparation and administration of the Subsidy program and ensure all government requirements are met. You will also be required to work with our Maintenance Committee to ensure that our dayto day maintenance requirements are met. Position is 35 hours per week. Community Housing Management Network Co-operative Administrator (TERM POSITION) The Community Housing Management Network (The Network) is recruiting to fill a part-time contract position (28 hours/week) as a Co-operative Administrator in Markham, starting in May 2012 and ending June, 2013. Reporting to The Network s Managing Director, the Administrator will be assigned to a co-operative site to provide day-to-day services to the co-operative s members and its board of directors. The successful applicant will: have a general understanding of property management have a general knowledge of co-op housing have a general understanding of financial statements have excellent interpersonal skills have effective oral and written communication skills be able to organize tasks and priorities be able to work independently have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office have a working knowledge of NewViews have experience working with volunteers This is a part-time position (28 hours/week). Community Housing Management Network Manager, Client Services The Community Housing Management Network (the Network) is recruiting to fill a full-time position as a Manager, Client Services. Reporting to the Managing Director, the Manager of Client Services will be the local contact person for on-site administrators and the board of directors.
