Descendants of Archibald Kelly Generation No. 1 1. Archibald 2 Kelly (James 1 ) was born Abt. 1740 in Scotland, and died 1813 in Bladen County, NC. He married Euphemia Kellie. She was born 1740 in Scotland, and died 1813 in Bladen County, NC. Notes for Archibald Kelly: When the Kelly's came to America they brought a letter with them that stated. That the bearer, Arch'd Kelly, Eupham Kelly his spouse, Catherine, Florence, James, and Mary Kelly their children lived from their infancy in the united parishes of Killan and Kilchenzie and behaved themselves soberly, honestly, and inoffensively free of scandal or church censure, and may be received into any Christian Society or congregation who God in His providence may order his lot, is attested in name and by Apointment of session at Rosehill the 13th day of August 1770 year by Robert Thompson, minister...conald Clark, Clerk. This appears to be solid evidence that Archibald and Euphemia lived from their infancy on the Kintyre Peninsula of Scotland. We know of no other evidence of their earlier years. He went on to become a Doctor and praticed at Gravely Hill, Bladen County, NC from 1870 to 1900, in White Oak, Bladen from 1900 to 1904, and Wilmington, New Hanover County from 1904 to 1906. 28. James Elisha 5 Kelly (Archibald 4, James 3, Archibald 2, James 1 ) was born June 11, 1834, and died September 18, 1892 in Bladen Co. NC. He married Caroline Patience Lennon March 06, 1856, daughter of James Lennon and Patience Thompson. She was born March 03, 1839, and died June 04, 1903. Notes for James Elisha Kelly: James was a Lieutenant, CSA, Farmer, and skilled carpenter. He enlisted in the army of the Confederacy on April 27, 1862. He was appointed 2nd Lieutenant on May 6, 1862, resigned December 5, 1862, by reason of ill health. He served under Captain George Tait, 2nd Company K, 40th Regiment, NC Heavy Artillery. About 1865 James built a house on the sand Hills out from Bladenboro on land inherited by Caroline from the estate of her grandfather, George Washington Lennon.
