1 The Degree Of Complexity And Diversity Of The Indian Metros.

The number of Indian mega cities will double from the current three (Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata) to six by the year 2021 (new additions will be Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad), when India will have the largest concentration of mega cities in the world.

The IT and BPO sectors have transformed the social structures of Indian families and their lifestyle patterns. Gurgaon International Tech Park Limited, Bangalore Shopping and nightlife in Brigade Road, Bangalore

Urban Drama Shopping is the medium by which the market has solidified its grip on our spaces, buildings, cities, activities, and lives. It is the material outcome of the degree to which the market economy has shaped our surroundings and ultimately ourselves.

Globalization in India has some crucial issues which need to be addressed, such as planning systems for cities wherein the infrastructural nodes and integrated townships redefine the aspects of travel, work, live and play.

2 Architectural Education

Teaching is about initiating excitement. It entails the deployment of pleasure, the build-up of passion, and obsession vis-a-vis a particular field of endeavor, the grounds on which a discipline operates, and its intellectual as well as physical practices.

Bauhaus and After....

3 Architectural Research

Thus, while the sciences are moving beyond the classic formula of research and education, architecture is first of all building a research practice in the guise of education.

All the work takes place in Teams. The prerogative of a collective work also applies to the staff. The installation of an open source infrastructure and culture makes all work readily available to everybody. All teaching staff focuses upon a single, coherent research program.

What are the needs, demands and questions that contemporary society raises for architecture and urbanism? Are there protagonists that take up this challenge within their research or creative practise? There is no easy or immediate answer here.

The total social process has become far too complex to be anticipated within a single vision and utopian image. Other strategies are called for.

In the history of science and in recent design methodologies, a new notion of rationality crystallizes. Groping experimentation, the incorporation of random play and a margin of indetermined, uncontrolled investment, are now seen to be necessary ingredients of any strategy aimed at innovation.

4 Design Research

Architecture is a design discipline. Innovation in architecture involves the invention of new types of spatial constructs and the attendant speculation about new possibilities of social use and occupation within a thus transformed built environment.

The restless society pushes architecture by posing a new set of characteristic problems, the new digital design media and the micro-electronic revolution pulls architecture into an uncharted territory of opportunity.

5 An Experiment In Architectural Education

5 An Experiment In Architectural Education Experimentation

How can teaching proceed within a framework that demands its own subversion?

Teaching and learning constitute acts of transgression, interrogating from both within and without, spiraling through potential distinctions, emerging unexpectedly into new positions.

5 An Experiment In Architectural Education Technical Praxis

In the context of laboratory experiments, techniques and sets of tools need to be tested such as notional registrations, both in drawing and model form.

5 An Experiment In Architectural Education Intellectual Praxis

The site of research lies in the disjunctions and overlaps yielded by modes of thinking stemming from fundamentally different and at times contradictory ideologies, exposing estabilished intellectual practices to other models of thought.

5 An Experiment In Architectural Education Intuitive Praxis

Consideration should be given to the specific role of intuition and its consequences for the work. Intuition as a form of practice accelerates investigation, due to its immediacy and directness.

Architectural Association Diploma 6 Works

If urbanity is the composite effect of dominant types, research into the nature and potential of 21st century types is critical in any attempt to stage alternative visions for our cities today.

At the heart of AA Dip 6 s investigation is a rethinking of the effect of types beyond their immediate singular and architectural scale, whereby types are understood as a collective urban entity that holds the potential to seed, differentiate, regulate and administer the urban plan
