SCOPE and CONTENTS B/W copy photographic prints 1867 (2000) One album Copy prints of original albumen photographs made by German-born 19 th century New Orleans photographer, Theodore Lilienthal (1829-1894), for the Paris Exposition of 1867. The city of New Orleans commissioned Lilienthal to create the photographs as a campaign to promote the city post- Civil War. At the end of the exposition, the photographs, in a portfolio, titled, La Nouvelle Orleans Collection 20/Rev. 02/20/2017/KW/1
et ses environs, were presented to French emperor Napoleon III. The photographs were included in the possessions of Napoleon III, housed in his family s home in Arenenberg, Switzerland. The home is now the Napoleonmuseum Thurgau, and operated as a house museum, where these original photographs reside. The originals were exhibited at Tulane University and the New Orleans Museum of Art in 2000.
