Purpose of the course: The purpose of teaching this discipline is the study of the trends of modern urban planning and architecture, getting knowledge about the basic principles of designing of public and cultural buildings, the main volumeplanning scheme and principles of design. Main task of the course: - to have an idea about the nature of architectural design; - to know the levels of architectural design;

- to impart students the skills for choosing effective design solutions; - to acquaint students with types and design schemes of building structures. As a result of the discipline the student needs to know: - trends of development of modern architecture and urban planning, combining all cycles of urban life; - influence of climatic factors on the planning and construction of urban areas; - main types of buildings; - principles of building design; - the concept of unification and typification of construction. Have the skills of: - designing of building; - using different buildings according to their threeplanning schemes and purposes; - to analyze the urban planning situation; - to understand the schemes and structural systems of buildings; Structure of the course: The course consists of practical lessons. The basic principle of the design methodology consists of impacting new ideas and innovations on an intuitive search of the student, his creative imagination and the birth of artistic design. The methodology provides a scientific basis for the management of educational architectural design. During execution of course project the method of system analysis of designed object promote increase of students and tutors work efficiency. The aim of the course is to teach students the norms and principles of designing high-rise residential buildings, as well as to acquaint students with the artistic and aesthetic issues of architectural design. 5. Maximum points for attendance is 10 points. If the student participates in all classes of subject during the semester he receives 10 points. If the student participates in all classes of subject during the semester he gets 10 points. During the semester for every 10 % missed hours, dedicated for subject, 1 point is deducted. In the case if the total number of missed hours for all subjects per semester will exceed the quantities of hours defined by the normative documents, the student is not allowed to the examination session and the certain measures should be taken against him. 7. Estimation. The knowledge of students is estimated maximum in 100 points. First 50 points student collects during the semester, and the other 50 during on the exam. 50 points collected by the student during the semester includes: for attendance - 10 points, for individual work - 10 points, for seminar or laboratory studies - 30 points. If the subject includes course work (project), then 20 points should be given for seminar and laboratory classes and 10 points - for development and presentation of the course work (project). The number of points collected by the student in the exam should be not less than 17 points. Students that have not participated in more than 30% of all hours allotted to the subject must not be admitted to the subject examination. Knowledge of

student should be estimated by the total number of points collected for the subject during semester, according to European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) as following: Up to 51 points unsatisfactory F (Fail considerable further work required) From 51 up to 60 points passable E (some works required to pass) From 61 up to 70 points satisfactory D From 71 up to 80 good C From 81 up to 90 very good B From 91 up to 100 excellent A 8. Breach the internal order.if the student breaches the internal order in theuniversity, the measures, provided in the Regulation should be appropriated to him 9. Requirements and tasks on the subject. After completing the course student mustacquire knowledge about the general principles of design of multistory residential buildings and complexes, and also about the ecological basis of design (the relationship of dwelling with natural environment). Projects should be executed in the form of drawings, models and explanatory notes. 10. Study the opinion of students about the subject After completing the course we will interview the students for clarifying their relation to the subject, separate topics, complexity of the individual works etc. Lecturer: Yusufova N.O.
