Significance continuedi Cuero's industrial enterprises, including the cotton compress, the cotton oil mill, and textile mill. Hugge died in 1897 and the house remained in the Mugge name until the 1940s when C.6. Klein is listed in tax rolls as owner. The house, which was built in stages, features highly ornate woodwork and stands on a large lot just north of downtown.
