Lower Left Corner LINK TO CAI WEBSITE Notes The Tax Map is a reference document and does not have any legal authority over a survey or deed. A recorded survey by a registered surveyor is the best supporting evidence when it comes to boundary issues. The map is always changing as land owners commission new surveys or change their parcels. It s like a jigsaw puzzle with about 1/3 of the pieces fixed by a survey and the rest are a bit squishy to make it all fit in. Your boundary could change if your neighbor gets a survey and you don t have one. We update the map several times a year, so there will be conflicting information between the map (ownership info from the working Grand List) and the Property Record Card (values from the last As Billed Grand List) on some parcels. A discrepancy between any information displayed on the map is an opportunity for investigation. The property may have sold or been altered within the last few months, or there may be a long-standing issue that requires more effort to resolve. Please contact the Town Clerk for official copies of recorded documents or the Listers Office for assessment records. Boundary lines are not perfectly lined up with the satellite image. Roads are not always centered in the right of way, and some Legal Trails are shown as roads. We will update these issues as time and budget allows, but it s expensive and not a top priority. With the public release of the map, we expect a lot of feedback, and will continue updates as new surveys come to our attention. We appreciate your patience; it may take months for boundary changes to appear on the map. As questions come in, we will add to the Frequently Asked Questions section on our website. 6
