...it s a matter of trying to understand very deep feelings of people who are themselves at the bottom of American life. You can t get much further down, as far as rural America is concerned, than a lot of these folks. And yet they feel, through the extreme cathartic experience that they go through in these services, they feel recognized by some great power...it has nothing to do with symbolism. The snake is not evil. They feel that they have been recognized and given a power. Water will go downhill, the sun comes up in the morning, if you hold a snake it ll bite you but it won t. Romulus Linney It s a matter of trying to understand. Jay Lee DIRECTOR S NOTE DIRECTOR S BIO Jay Lee is an LA based actor, director, and teacher. A 2015 School of Dramatic Arts alum, he s worked with various theater companies around Los Angeles, as well as in TV and film. He has also taught acting for the USC Summer Institute for International Students and served as an assistant instructor for numerous SDA courses. Recent theater projects include: Three Days in the Country (Antaeus), Henry IV part 1 (Show Me State), Happy End (USC), Great Expectations (USC), The Madwoman of Chaillot (A Noise Within), The Tempest (Shakespeare OC), The Kentucky Cycle (USC), Vieux Carre (Coeurage), This is Our Youth (independent production).
