Schonbrunn Palace Munich Austrian Countryside Pilgrimage to Oberammergau Tentative Itinerary* Day 1: Depart USA Depart the U.S. on overnight flights to Vienna, Austria. Day 2: Arrival Vienna Upon arrival in Vienna meet your local tour manager and depart for the hotel for check-in. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Vienna. Day 3: Vienna City Tour Schonbrunn Palace Heuriger Wine Dinner Breakfast this morning, before enjoying Vienna with tour of the famous ring passing many of Vienna historical buildings: Opera house, parliament and the historical university building. Take a walking tour passing the donners fountain, Hofburg Palace, to the Spanish riding school, ending at St. Stephen Strasse, with a full guided tour of the Cathedral, including the rooftop of the Cathedral and crypts. Time to pray by the Miraculous image of the Our lady of Mariapocs the weeping Madonna. Lunch on your own, followed by a visit to Schonbrunn Palace, the fabulous baroue summer residence of the Hapsburg Emperors. Here Marie-Antoinette lived as a young girl, and six-year-old Mozart played for the empress inside the Palace. End the day with Mass at the Carmelite Convent where the miraculous image of Our Lady of the Bowed head. Enjoy a festive welcome in the wine growing village of Grinzing, with a Heuriger dinner and a taste of the wine while being entertained by the melancholy Schrammein music. Overnight at the hotel in Vienna. Day 4: Vienna Prachatice Altötting After breakfast, travel through the gorgeous Austrian countryside to the home town of St. John Neumann. Celebrate Mass at St. James Church, followed by a tour of the Neumann residence, and the Prachatice Museum, followed by free time for lunch on own. Continue on to have dinner and overnight in Altötting, Germany. Day 5 : Altötting Marktl Munich This morning tour the famous National Shrine of Bavaria dedicated to Our Lady, dating back to the 7th century and known for the many healings that have taken place there, it is often referred to as the Lourdes of Germany. Celebrate Mass in the Chapel of Grace and see the miraculous image of the Black Madonna. Lunch on your own, before continuing on to Marktl to visit the historic hometown of Pope Emeritus Benedict. Continue on for dinner and overnight in Munich, the capital city of Bavaria. Day 6: Munich Take a sightseeing tour of Munich, beginning with a visit to Marienplatz, with the world famous Glockenspiel. Visit the Asamkirche, dedicated to the martyr St. John Nepomuk, and the beautiful twin-towered Frauenkirche Church, the most familiar landmark of old Munich. Celebrate Mass. See the town hall, and the magnificent boulevard Feldherrenhalle Ludwigsstrasse Siegestor, created by King Ludwig I in the middle of the 19th century. Also see the Residenz, the palace of the kings of Bavaria, and the Hofgarten (exterior view). Lunch, afternoon, and dinner at leisure. Overnight in Munich. Day 7: Munich This morning, celebrate Mass at Peter s Church, and take the remainder of the day at leisure with the opportunity to visit the English Gardens, the Opera house, Nymphenburg Palace, or peruse Munich s National Museum or the Deutsches Museum, the largest science and technology museum in the world. Savor delicious Bavarian cuisine with a special Farewell Dinner in a local beergarden. Overnight in Munich. Day 8: Munich Oberammergau Passion Play After breakfast, depart to Oberammergau. Celebrate Mass at the village Church, SS. Peter and Paul. Enjoy Lunch followed by the afternoon performance of the 1st Act of the world famous Oberammergau Passion Play. Break for dinner and free time for souvenir shopping, before the evening performance of the 2nd Act of the Passion Play. Overnight at a hotel near Oberammergau.
