You choose an area... Milford Park is located in Rhydyfelin, a small suburb just south of Pontypridd in Mid Glamorgan and offers a select range of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes. Milford Park is a brand new development from Persimmon Homes in Rhydyfelin consisting of a total of 48 properties. Milford is actually the English translation of Rhydyfelin which is the area the site is located in, just a couple of miles south of the centre of Pontypridd. Gateway to the famous South Wales valleys, and commanding a stunning location mountains, trails and the river prevail Pontypridd is the key to Wales rich cultural and historic past. The name Pontypridd is ^ from Pont-y-ty-pridd the Welsh for bridge by the earthen house, a reference to a succession of wooden bridges that formerly spanned the River Taff at this point. Unsurprisingly, the history of Pontypridd is closely tied to the coal and iron industries. Sited as it is at the junction of the Rhondda and Taff/Cynon valleys, it became an important location for the transportation of coal from the Rhondda and iron from Merthyr Tydfil, first via the Glamorganshire Canal and later via the Taff Vale Railway, to the ports at Cardiff, Barry and to Newport. Because of its role in transporting coal cargo, its railway platform is even thought to have once been the longest in the world during its heyday. The town itself is also famous for its breathtaking architecture, with old buildings decorated with fine stonework sourced from locally quarried stone, and Ynysangharad Park to the east - an area of extensive and beautiful parkland with avenues of mature trees and colourful flower gardens - as well as many other attractions. Pontypridd town centre is currently undergoing much building work to modernise the town - a new 50m Sainsburys store opened July 2012 - but there are also a variety of local amenities close to Milford Park in Rhydyfelin, including a local post office, leisure centre, church, pubs and restaurants. There are many educational institutes locally and in recent years the addition of a college and also the University of Glamorgan in the neighbouring village of Treforest has introduced new residents to the area as well as put Rhydyfelin on the map. Milford Park has excellent transport links, with easy access directly to the A470 and south to Cardiff, just 10 miles away. You can also find additional shopping locations and leisure facilities just a 15-minute drive away at Caerphilly while the M4 is only a short distance away as well, for travel further afield.
