Fax 519-354-5535 ORIGINAL CHARTER # 1011 issued - November 1 st, 1921 Keith Dawson September 24, 2014 Rotarian Wayne Schnabel introduced president-elect Fannie Vavoulis who gave her classification talk this week. Her Rotary category is personnel recruitment. Fannie has been a member of Rotary for four years. She began her presentation by talking about her grandparents who lived in Greece. Her parents were also born in Greece and moved to Chatham after they were married. Her father started working at the former Holiday Inn in Chatham and later moved to The Wheels inn. The family then decided to start their own business with a restaurant called Heritage House in Chatham. This was followed by another restaurant located in the Thames Lea Plaza called Countryside Restaurant. Fanny attended the Pines and then went to Western University where she received her BA in Political Science. After graduating, she enrolled in Fanshawe College where she studied Corporate Communications and Public Relations. She wanted to return to Chatham so she accepted a position at United Way. Positions at RM Auctions and FedEx followed. After that, Fannie was approached to work with physician recruitment at CKHA. She has been at that position for the last four years and her team has recruited 50 physicians in that time. She also is co-ordinator of educational programs with med students. In her spare time, she runs a small business called "Events by Fannie". She loves reading, cheering on the Tigers and attending concerts. She is enthusiastic and full of life. She believes that Chatham-Kent is the perfect place to live, work and play. Fannie is a dedicated worker for Rotary and we are so pleased that she has joined our club. She was sponsored by Rotarian Alysson Storey who also had the pleasure of thanking Fannie today on behalf of the Rotary Club.
