De La Salle to Host 22nd Annual D-Final Event On Monday, April 8, 2013, De La Salle Institute will be hosting its 22nd Annual D-Final Event in the Parmer Activity Center, located on De La Salle s Institute Campus at 3434 S. Michigan Ave. in Chicago. Attendees will watch the men s national championship basketball game on four big screens along with enjoying a variety of food and beverages. Throughout the evening, attendees will have the opportunity to win prizes through the silent auction, raffle or other interactive games. Admission is $35 ($40 at the door). Doors open at 6:00pm. Sponsorship opportunities are available. All proceeds benefit the students of De La Salle. In addition, D-Final Super Raffle tickets also are on sale. Ticket purchasers have a 1-in-20 chance to win cash prizes with a grand prize of $10,000 cash. Only 1,500 tickets will be sold and tickets are $50 each. Seventy-five prizes will be awarded. Bridgeport Catholic Academy Highlights Holy Cross Ladies Aid Society Soup Supper The Ladies Aid will be hosting a Maundy Thursday Soup Supper on March 28th from 5:00-6:30 p.m. in the church assembly hall located at 3116 S. Racine Avenue. Our Maundy Thursday worship service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Two homemade delicious soups, Chicken Vegetable & Cheddar Broccoli, will be on the menu along with fresh bakery rye bread and a choice of beverage. At the annual Family Reading Night on March 21, 2013, the Easter Bunny and Easter Egg were present to celebrate Clifford s 50th Birthday. The evening was filled with fun events including a book fair and a chance to meet Clifford and wish him a Happy Birthday! Every child received a party favor with a book and other goodies. Cook County Commissioner John P. Daley and Alderman James A. Balcer, along with Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Commissioner Patrick D. Thompson, are pleased to announce the winners of the 11th Ward Spelling Bee: 1st place Valeria Mendoza, Bridgeport Catholic Academy; 2nd place Gary Chong, Bridgeport Catholic Academy; 3rd place Gina Jagminas, Santa Lucia; 4th place Wendy Ruan, Healy; and 5th place Isabella Wroblewski, St. Jerome. Alderman Balcer and I would like to thank all of the students whom participated in our spelling bee. These students deserve much praise for all the hard work and effort they put in this contest, said Commissioner Daley. We would like to thank all of the schools, teachers and parents for their help throughout the school year, added Alderman Balcer. All-American Eagles Program On Friday, March 15th, Bill Lipinski s All-American Eagles Program held his annual Essay and Art Award Ceremony for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students at the Chicago Marriot Midway Hotel. Hundreds of applicants wrote essays on Veteran s and President s Day along with a Civil War Art competition. At this event, twelve students from schools from around Chicago land and southwest suburbs were honored as winners of this event. The winners were awarded a special All-American Eagle Trophy for 1st and 2nd place and the school with the most participation received a check for the school.
