The Invocation was given by Loraine Cordule. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mike James. MOTION: To approve the HAAR Consent Agenda with minor change to minutes. MOTION: To approve the below NALMLS Electronic motions: Motion: To update the 2016 NALMLS account signers RATIONALE: NALMLS: Valerie Miles President Cindi Peters Secretary/Treasur Tanner er Josh McFall CEO Katy Fitzgerald Finance Director Motion: To refund the prepaid NALMLS fees to Jamie Schreiber. RATIONALE: Ms. Schreiber prepaid her NALMLS participation fees in September 2015. She went inactive on June 6, 2016. The amount of the refund would be $142.50 ($150 discount). TREASURERS REPORT The following Treasurer s report was given by Secretary Treasurer Cindi Peters The HAAR balance sheet reflects a total of $646,444 in checking and savings. The Morgan Stanley Investment accounts total $244,102. Prepaid Expenses consists of prepaid monies for the Dueling Pianos, Realtor Expo, and Chamber meetings as well as the prepaid pest control. Deferred Income of $2,000 is the sponsorship income collected for the August ARPAC event. The HAAR Profit and Loss statement reflects total income of $404,539 and total expense of $250,049. The Membership Partner Program has exceeded the 2016 budget by 24%. Late Fees also exceeded the 2016 budget by 31%. HAAR has fulfilled its commitment to sustain Crystal R. 3
Alan Reese has obtained his Notary. These expenses will be reflected under Member Services on the May financials. Utilities are running under budget by 13%. The Net Income is $147,625 which is $437 more than budgeted for April. There being no questions, the financials are to be filed for audit. The following motion was brought by the Finance and Budget Committee: Motion: To update the 2016 HAAR Account Signers RATIONALE: Kathy Mann Cynthia Peters-Tanner Josh McFall Katy Fitzgerald President Secretary/Treasurer CEO Finance Director PRESIDENTS REMARKS President Kathy Mann reminded everyone that there is now a vacant AAR director position. Motion: To appoint Jeff Nixon to fill the AAR Director vacancy President Kathy Mann let everyone know that Russ Russell will be the chair of the building task force and that he and his committee will be meeting with our new Facilities Manager to look at some things that will need to be addressed in the near future. CEO REMARKS Josh announced that there are some new faces at HAAR. He is pleased to welcome Al Dancy as our new Facilities Manager and Jan Causey as our new Member Care Specialist. Also, Lisa Spinelli has been promoted to Professional Development Manager so please congratulate her. We still have an open spot in our membership department for the Lockbox and Key Specialist. Josh let everyone know that we passed our Core Standards and that so far we were 1 of 4 associations in the state that has passed so far. COMMITTEE REPORTS ARPAC Committee Chair, Ginny Brandau, let everyone know that we are at 48% of our goal and 41% participation. She reminded everyone of the current fundraiser Wheel Barrow of fun. Tickets are 4 for $35 or 1 for $10 and the drawing will be held in July. She also reminded everyone about the upcoming Dueling Pianos event being held at HAAR on August 12 th. Tickets are $50 each and the entire ticket cost goes toward your ARPAC contribution. The ticket includes dinner, drinks, a show and a lot of fun! Tables of 10 are also available for $500. She announced that there will be celebrity mixologists there: Steve Cawthon, Amanda Howard, Barbara Breland, Scott Averbuch and Chastity or Daniel Davenport. Affiliate Director, Martha Bishop, shared that the next affiliate council meeting will be August 19 th with guest speaker Cliff Mann and REALTORS are welcome to attend as well as affiliates. 4
Governmental Affairs Chair, Sha Jarboe, shared that they had a great meeting yesterday and thanked everyone that had tackled to Call for Action regarding HR 3700. She reminded everyone that part of HR 3700 is condo loan reform. She said we are hoping to get to our goal of a 20% participation rate in the Call for Action. She told everyone that they are working on the REALTOR school breakfasts for the fall and are looking at private schools. So far Randolph and Madison Academy have agreed to participate. If you know of school that is interested in giving an update, please let them know. She reminded everyone that they are getting ready for candidate interviews. They will post the dates and they are open for anyone to attend. She also asked everyone to think about what topics we want to send up to AAR and the committee had discussed Historic Tax Credit and Professionalism. CRS President, Sharita Whitehead, announced that their meeting is tomorrow and they will have Michelle Jordan with Huntsville City Planning and Laurie McCaulley with Huntsville Board of Education speaking. They will be touring the new Jemison high school in the future as it was not ready in time for this meeting. July 8 th is the Be a Santa to a Senior charity event and it will be held at Somerset Subdivision. Win a chance at Iron Bowl tickets at 1 for $10, 3 for $25 and 10 for $75. WCR President, Chris Hulser, announced they will not have a meeting in July. Their next meeting is August 17 th and it is their Summer Salads event. They will have a RELATOR Safety class and have someone from the Huntsville Police Department there to speak. YPN Chair, Loraine Cordule, shared that they had a great BizFast event this month at McMullen Cove. The next event will be July 19 th. Bylaws Chair, Bill Ward, shared that at their meeting on June7th they established a workgroup to look at governance issues as recommended by O&D. The workgroup will be meeting on July 6 th with a full Bylaws Committee meeting immediately following. OTHER BUSINESS AAR State Convention Chair, Zelda Lanza, gave an update on the September 11-13 state convention to be held in Huntsville. Motion: Put $5,000 towards the sponsorship of the 2016 AAR convention and to recommend to Finance and Budget $5000 go toward a hospitality suite for Sid Pugh s installation as AAR President next year. More discussion was had on what legislative topics to take to AAR. Motion: To take the following legislative issues to AAR: Historic Tax Credit, Professionalism and 3 rd Party Referral Fees on relocations. HAAR Committee Reports ARPAC- We are at 50% of goal with $43,471 collected and 42% participation. Don t forget the Dueling Pianos event on August 12 th at HAAR! Tickets can be purchased on IMS. Encouraging brokers to buy tables of ten for their agents, $500 cost of table is brokers investment. At of this point we have sold 6 reserved tables. Grab your seats before they are gone there are only 79 seats left! BYLAWS- To be presented at meeting. CARAVAN- Nothing to report. FORMS- At the meeting Mike James will be presenting the new form Home Inspector Addendum to address issues with home inspectors with a lockbox key. GRIEVANCE Grievance committee met on June 21 to review one complaint. The complaint was forwarded for an ethics hearing GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS- We will be conducting interviews with candidates on July 20 th from 1-5pm, and July 21 st 9am-5pm EDUCATION COMMITTEE- GRI is back! We have Professionalism on July 18 th, Contracts on August 8 th and Accountability and Development on August 22 nd. ORIENTATION- No report. PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS- Presenting at meeting.
