PRESERVATION COMMISSION 602 S M AIN S TREET, J OPLIN, MO 64801 (417)624-0820 Local Landmark Marker Display Guidelines In order to maintain a consistent use and display of the Local Landmark Markers, the Joplin Historic Preservation Commission (JHPC) has set forth the following Display Guidelines: Pole/Standard: A metal pole will be provided with the installation of the marker. An alternative post/standard may be utilized by the property owner at their own expense. HJPC will approve such poles based on the following criteria: 1. The style of the post/standard must complement the individual architectural style of the building, home, site or structure. For example: a Victorian post/standard for a Victorian structure, a Craftsman post/standard for a Craftsman Bungalow. 2. The height of the marker and post should be no higher than six (6) feet. Marker Installation: Markers shall be installed on the outside edge of the property line at a distance no less than two (2) feet and no more than eight (8) feet from the sidewalk. At intersections, the Marker must be placed on the corner of the property facing the intersection. All other Markers must be placed facing the street. The height of the Marker and post should be no higher than six (6) feet. Maintenance: Markers shall be maintained to be free of obstructions and clearly visible. Maintenance, replacement, repair due to weather, vandalism etc., of the marker is the responsibility of the property owner. Continued Use: Markers are the property of the Historic Joplin Preservation Commission. Markers may not be removed without the approval of the HJPC. Any change in the display location of the marker and post shall be submitted in writing to the HJPC for approval. I have read and agree to the above guidelines. Name: Date:
