Civil Engineering Dept. of G. H. R. C. E., Nagpur Organized a BOS Meet Department of Civil Engineering of G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering organized a Board of Studies Meeting to discuss syllabus of UG Civil Engineering Syllabus. The meeting was held on 12th. Dr. R. S. Jangid, Professor, IIT, Mumbai and Mr. Satish Raipure, Structural Consultant, Nagpur was present on this occasion. During the meeting, approval of Programme Educational Objectives, approval of Programme Outcomes, finalization of Scheme & Syllabus of VII and VIII Semester, approval of revised scheme and syllabus of III rd to VIII th semester of B.E. Civil Engineering. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. P. Y. Pawade, HOD, Civil Engineering Department.

Guest Lecture organized by Civil Engineering Department of GHRCE on Earthquake Resistant Design of Structure A guest Lecture was organized by Civil Engineering Department of GHRCE, Nagpur on Earthquake Resistant Design of Structure on 12th. Dr. R. S. Jangid, Professor, IIT Mumbai was the invited speaker. Dr. R. S. Jangid has done research work on energy dissipating devices used to improve seismic performance of building structure. Dr. Jangid described causes of earthquake, magnitude and intensity of earthquake to students of eighth semester. Dr. Jangid explained the seismic design of structure and the different retrofitting techniques used to improve the performance of building. The guest lecture improves understanding related to earthquake and its hazards on buildings of UG students. Dr. P. Y. Pawade was instrumental in arranging the program.

Site Visit Waste Treatment Plant at MIDC, Butibori, Nagpur, A site visit to Common Effluent Treatment plant and Common Hazardous Waste Treatment Plant run by SMS Group at MIDC Butibori, Nagpur was arranged on 28-02-2013. SMS infrastructure is a wide group which executes number of units in various sectors. Among which the two units are situated at Butibori MIDC including CETP & CHWTP. The CETP in Butibori is the only one in Vidarbha Region having the capacity of 5 MLD. It is founded on 17-06-2006 at Butibori MIDC to treat the effluent from nearby industries. Under the observation of Prof. Mangesh P. Bhorkar, Prof. D. K. Singh and A. C. Gondane 15 post graduate students of Environmental Engineering visited the site. The plant was equipped with very good and efficient equipment. Students came to know the practical aspects of Common Effluent Treatment process and Hazardous Waste Treatment process. They utilize the latest technology for the incineration of the Solid & hazardous waste which is very much efficient and of low operation cost.

Clay Modeling Competition Organized by Civil Engineering Dept under Technorion-2013 Clay modeling event was organized at GHRCE on 27 th under the Banner of Technorian 2013. 30 Groups (120 students) participated in this Event. Vinod Jattewar, Chairman IDEAS Architecture College & Dr. P. B. Nagarnaik & were judges for the event to inspect the models & shortlisted 2 Groups (8 students) on the basis of their score. One shortlisted group was placed at Winner Position. One shortlisted group was placed at Runner up Position. Winner & Runner up were felicitated with Cash Prize & certificate of merit by the hands of Dr. P. B. Nagarnaik, Dean Academic, Dr. P. Y. Pawade, HOD-Civil,. Prof. K. R. Dabhekar, coordinated the Event with the help of Student Co-ordinator Lokesh Thakre & Ankur Tripathi.

Smart City Planning Competition Organized by Civil Engineering Dept under Technorion-2013 The Smart City planning Competition was organized by Civil Engineering Dept under Technorion-2013 on 28 th. The event was a spectacular success with 15 participants from different Engineering and Architecture colleges in Nagpur region. Prof. S. S. Sanghai & Prof. A. P. Deshpande were expert judge of the event. The judgment of the City planning Competition was based on criteria such as Planning, Area allocation, Uniqueness, infrastructure, Amenities, Landscaping, Sewage disposal/side drains, type of building, internal/approach roads and Water Provision. The prizes were given to winning team and runner up team. The winning team and runner-up team was from G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering. Prof. N. H. Pitale & Prof. P. B. Patil were the Faculty Coordinator of the Event. Kedar Paturkar was the student coordinator.

Bridge making Competition Organized by Civil Engineering Dept under Technorion-2013 Bridge making event was organized by Civil Engineering Dept. under Technorion- 2013 on 28 th Feb 2013. The event was spectacular success with participations from around 55 teams (220 participants) from different colleges in Nagpur region. Our Hon ble Director Dr. P. R. Bajaj, G.H.R.C.E inaugurated the event and encourage the participant. Dr. P. Y. Pawade & Prof. S. S. Solanke were Faculty co-ordinator while Anshul Shrivastav & Kruti Thankre were student co-ordinator. Dr. P. Y. Pawade, GHRCE and Prof. P. J. Wadhai, GHRCE were the experts who judged the Bridge making competition based on Finishing, Strength, Creativity and Efficiency of structure.the prizes were given by to winning team and runner up team. The winning team was from Govt. Polytechnique, Nagpur and runner up team was from G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur. On this occasion Dr. P. B. Nagarnaik Academic Dean, Dr. P. Y. Pawade HOD, Civil Engineering Dept. and Staff members of Civil Engineering Department were also present.

Cross the Bridge Competition Organized by Civil Engineering Dept under Technorion-2013 Cross the Bridge event was organized by Civil Engineering Dept. under Technorion- 2013 on 27 th Feb 2013. The event was successful with 41 participants from different colleges in Nagpur region. Our Dr. B. V. Khode, Professor, G. H. R. C. E inaugurated the event and encourage the participant. Prof. S. S. Sanghai & Prof. D. S. Padole were Faculty co-ordinator while Ankur Tripathi & Kaustubh Kale were student coordinator. The event was based on software Bridge Construction. The participants have to construct bridge using software with available materials having minimum budget. Dr. B. V. Khode, Professor GHRCE was the expert who judged the Cross Bridge competition based on levels cleared by students with maximum points.the prizes were given by to winning team and runner up team. The winning team and runner up team was from First year department of G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur. On this occasion Dr. P. B. Nagarnaik Academic Dean, Dr. P. Y. Pawade HOD, Civil Engineering Dept. and Staff members of Civil Engineering Department were also present.
