J. Hayes, "Daily News Correspondent "There are two cemeteries here connected wit the St. Paul's United Church of Christ; formerly St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church of Christ; and before that, St. Paul s German Evangelical Lutheran Church. The first cemetery, referred to as the "Old Cemetery" was a pioneer burying ground. No burial records were kept before 1866; but the cemetery is much older, as there are tombstones here bearing dates in the 1850's In 1904, an acre of ground was bought from Phillip Meisenheimer for a new cemetery; adjoining the church property. A Cemetery Association was formed and the congregation is working toward Perpetual Care for the future. These cemeteries are well fenced and well cared for." ******************************* From Johnson's "History of Cooper County, Missouri": The old cemetery adjoined the churchyard on the south. There are more than thirty graves recorded in this plot and probably more without markers. A new cemetery was established across the road to the north.
