Practices Matters Construction Site Safety Initiatives A written submission was delivered to Development Bureau to respond to the proposal concerning the responsibilities of the AACSB consultants for site supervision on 24 October 2018. Construction Innovation and Technology Fund (CITF) Upon launch of CITF for application on 2 October 2018, the application framework of CITF was circulated to all registered practices and all general members for information. A briefing delivered by Construction Industry Council (CIC) was held on 20 November 2018. HKIA sent a letter to Steering Committee on CITF regarding eligibility for CITF. Building Information Modelling (BIM) HKIA BIM Accreditation Programme The taskforce was inviting members with BIM experience to serve as interviewer in the accreditation programme. BIM Contract Conditions HKIA accepted the invitation of HKIS to join the BIM Contract Alliance to review the proposed BIM Contract Conditions for construction industry. Comments to the draft were reflected to HKIS on 5 October 2018. The discussion was ongoing by the Alliance. CPD Seminars / Sharing Sessions The following CPD seminars were held : BIM Development in China on 26 September 2018 BIM Ecosystem on 31 October 2018 Collaboration with CIC HKIA was collaborating in the following matters concerning BIM : Certification of BIM Practitioners Organisation of discipline-based BIM training Organisation of CPD events BIM competition and course accreditation for tertiary educational institutions in Hong Kong Board of Local Affairs (BLA) 1. Nominations SO Ching was nominated to Construction Industry Council for Taskforce on Reasonable Construction Period. CHAN Chui Man, KAO Chun, LAU Chi Leung, LEUNG Lok Yiu, LO Chun Wai were re-nominated and CHAU Kei Yun, CHEUNG Hoi Fo, YIP Lum Lum Tina were nominated to Development Bureau for Appeal Board Panel under Construction Workers Registration Ordinance for the new term of office commencing 25 January 2019 for a period of two years to 24 January 2021. Franklin YU was appointed to the Steering Committee on Construction Innovation and Technology Fund for a term of two years from 7 September 2018 to 6 September 2020. 2. Local Affairs The following written submissions were delivered : Letter to URA on Yau Mong District Study Letter to DEVB on land bidding for site of significant public interest Reply Letter to Working Group on Flat Inspection of CIC Written submission on Land supply in Hong Kong to Government Taskforce on Land Supply. HKIA views were conveyed at the following meetings : Focus group meeting with Transport Department and its consultant regarding enhancing walkability in Hong Kong on 17 September 2018. Stakeholders consultation meeting with CIC consultant regarding the consultancy study on improving environmental performance of Hong Kong construction industry on 17 September 2018. Meeting with DEVB on the new initiative regarding Optimizing the Use of Vacant Government Sites on 8 November 2018. 3. CPD Events Study Tour to Tokyo The study tour was held between 28 October 2018 and 2 November 2018. Exchange sessions with the Japan Institute of Architects, the Institute for Building Environment and Energy Conservation, Office of Kengo Kuma, Office of Nikken Sekkei, site visits to projects in Tokyo and visit to HKIA Exhibition for Hong Kong Week in Tokyo were held. Eco Expo Asia 2018 Being a supporting organization, HKIA staged an exhibition booth in the Eco Expo Asia 2018 at Hall 3 and Hall 6 of AsiaWorld Expo held between 25-28 October 2018. Walkability Workshop The workshop was held to make proposals for enhancing walkability in urban areas of Hong Kong on 3 November 2018. Board of Educational Affairs (BEdA) 1. Continuing Return of CPD Declaration Form 2018 Professional Deadline of submission : 30 September 2018 Development As at 14 November 2018, 3775 members (85%) had submitted (CPD) their CPD Declaration Forms. Random checking by the CPD Checking Panel is in progress. CPD Research Fund 2016 Research report on Design Guide for Senior Citizen Dwelling by IP Chung Man Tony, LEUNG Kit Man Andy and CHUI Pak Chung Patrick was published in the HKIA Journal Issue 74 and was accepted by BEdA. The taskforce would also review of HKIA/ARB Accreditation Handbook. Canberra Accord agreement, renewal of the current mutual recognition agreement which will be due in January 2019 would not be required. 3.
