Short Bio Qing CHANG Prof. Qing Chang is a leading architect, scholar and educator in heritage conservation and architecture history in China and the chief editor of Heritage Architecture and Built Heritage. He established the first architecture preservation program in China in 2003 and launched the first academic journal
on architectural heritage in China in 2016 and the first English journal on built heritage in 2017. He was elected as Academician of Chinese Academy of Science in 2015, and currently is Hon. FAIA, the founding chair of Urban and Rural Built Heritage Committee of Architectural Society of China, the deputy director of the Preservation Committee of Architectural Society of Shanghai, China and a member of the Consultant Committee of Shanghai Municipal Government for City Planning and Construction. His research lies in the area of vernacular architecture, history and theory of Chinese Architecture, comparative study between Chinese-foreign architecture, theory of conservation and regeneration, regeneration of urban and rural historic areas and preservation and renovation practice of historic buildings. Guangya ZHU Prof. Guangya ZHU is currently the professor and PhD supervisor of School of Architecture in Southeast University. He is leading the specific Institute of Architectural Heritage Conservation Planning and Design under Architectural Design and Research Institute of Southeast University. He has chaired several NSFC projects as PI and a series planning and design projects for important national heritage sites. Zhou LV Prof. Zhou LV is currently the vicedirector and member of academic committee of school of architecture and PhD supervisor of school of Architecture in Tsinghua University. He is the vice-president of China Forbidden City society. He is also the council member and academic committee member of Architectural history branch of Architectural society of China. The vice-president of ICOMOS-CHINA, council member of ICCROM, National first level registered architect.
Yisan RUAN Yisan.Ruan is currently the professor and doctoral supervisor of school of architecture and urban planning of Tongji University. He is the director of the research center of national historical and cultural city, a national historical and cultural city protection expert committee, deputy director of the academic committee of national historical and cultural city of Shanghai City Planning Expert Advisory Committee of experts. He is also the urban planning adviser of Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Shaoxing, Lijiang and Pingyao. Hua SUN Hua Sun is currently the professor and doctoral supervisor of School of Archaeology and Museology of Peking University. He is the director of academic committee of School of Archaeology and Museology of Peking University, the member of the leading group of national planning for editing and publishing of ancient books. He is also the director of World heritage institute of training and research for the Asia (Beijing), one of the leading advocates of collaborative archaeology in western China. Jian, XIA Prof. Jian XIA is currently the Dean of school of architecture and urban planning, Suzhou University of Science and Technology. He is active in heritage conservation in Suzhou. He is the president of Suzhou institute for the conservation of national historical cities, the council member of Architectural education evaluation branch of Architectural society of China. He is executive member of traditional
architectural conservation Union (Suzhou) of World heritage institute of training and research for the Asia and the Pacific region under the auspices of UNESCO, and the executive member of Suzhou world heritage and traditional architecture conservation institute. John Pendlebury John Pendlebury is Professor of Urban Conservation and former Head of School of Architecture Planning and Landscape (2008-2016) of Newcastle University. He is a town planner and urban conservationist with ten years practice experience in local government, central government and consultancy before re-entering academia in 1996. He undertakes work on how historic cities have been planned in the past, considering how the historic qualities of such cities were conceived and balanced with modernising forces. He also undertakes empirical and conceptual work on the interface between contemporary cultural heritage policy and other policy processes. Lin Foxhall Prof. Lin Foxhall is the Head of School and the Rathbone Chair of Ancient History and Classical Archaeology, School of Histories, Languages and Cultures, University of Liverpool. Lin Foxhall was educated at Bryn Mawr College, the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Liverpool. After holding posts at Oxford University and University College London, she came to Leicester in 1993. From 1999 to 2015 she was Professor of Greek Archaeology & History, and from 2012 to 2015 Head of the School before she joined University of Liverpool. She is the lead on the major Tracing Networks Project funded by the Leverhulme Trust and is co-director to the Bova Marina project in southern Italy. Professor Foxhall has published extensively on gender in classical antiquity, as well as on agriculture and the ancient economy.
Laurajane Smith Prof. Laurajane Smith is the Director of the Centre of Heritage and Museum Studies, and Head of the School of Archaeology and Anthropology, the Australian National University. She specializes in heritage studies. She has published extensively on heritage theories and practice. She is renowned for the concept of the Authorized Heritage Discourse (AHD), which she featured in her 2006 book, Uses of Heritage (which is currently being translated into Mandarin). She is editor of the International Journal of Heritage Studies and co-general editor (with William Logan) of the Routledge Series Key Issues in Cultural Heritage. Soumyen Bandyopadhyay Prof. Soumyen Bandyopadhyay is the Head of School of Architecture, University of Liverpool and the Sir James Stirling Chair in Architecture at UoL. Previously at Manchester School of Architecture, Soumyen headed the Architecture research group. At Nottingham Trent, Professor Bandyopadhyay led the REF submission for Architecture, Built Environment and Planning (Unit C16), where he was Research Coordinator for the School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment. Before taking up his first professorial appointment at Nottingham Trent he taught at Liverpool and at Leeds Metropolitan University.. Soumyen has extensive experience of architectural practice in India and the Middle East.
