The meeting started at 8pm. Discussed were: the District A3 Round Table Discussion, Wreath Laying at MLQ, 1 st GMM and CPD Seminar, Confab 7.0, September Regular Board Meeting #03, Confab 7.5, 2 nd GMM and CPD Seminar, WAD, October Regular Board Meeting #04, 3 rd GMM and CPD Seminar, JAA 2017, other matters which included: Lokal Tours with CPD, Updated files of UAPQC Chapter for FY 2017-2018 and signing of Board Resolutions. Program Managers were already assigned to all proposed activities. Everybody actively participated in the discussions and suggestions were made. Everyone actively participated in the discussions. Quezon The United Architects of the Philippines, Quezon City Chapter joined in celebrating the 139 th Birth Anniversary of President Manuel L. Quezon with a Wreath Laying ceremony held last August 19, 2017 at the Quezon Monument in front of Quezon City Hall Main Building. It was participated in by the officers of QC Chapter headed by Ar. Maria Carla G. Epino,fuap, President, together with Ar. Ronnie Yumang, UAP Regional District A3 Director, and the presidents of the different chapters in District A3, Namely Ar Alora Angeles QC Silangan Chapter, Ar Kristine Mae Sanao -QC Capitol Chapter, Ar Michele Laman Tandang Sora Chapter, Ar Peji Cipriano -QC Central Chapter, Ar Arnold San Sebastian South Triangle Chapter. The group went to the Max s Restaurant in Quezon Memorial Circle where a sumptuous brunch was prepared and served. The whole day affair which started at 8 o clock in the morning until 5:00pm presented prominent architects as speakers in the morning and group & individual consultations in the afternoon. The program was raised to the next level by the organizers by inviting not only one, as in the previous years, but now five (5) powerhouse speakers who shared different points of view to the students. The first speaker was Jose Agustin D. Ricarte, student from UST, awarded as Outstanding Thesis last year who gave helpful & smart tips to the students on how they can achieve such award. Four more speakers, UAP Past President Ar Ana M. Ling, and experienced architects from the academe, Ar Jonathan Manalad, Ar Enp Carlo F. Marudo who gave insights from a jury s point of view, and Ar Michaela Rosette Santos on Green Architecture which she emphasizes should be applied in designing all types of structures. UAP-QUEZON CITY CHAPTER s OUTREACH to STUDENTS CONFAB 7.0 Architectural Thesis Seminar and Consultation Invitations to the different architecture school deans were sent by UAPQC Chapter President Maria Carla G. Epino to formally ask for their consent to send their students and likewise to the architects who will serve as consultants/ advisers for the afternoon session. Ar Marian Eileen F. Marudo, UAPQC Vp-Programs, a former president of the UAPSA, also sent invitation to the organization to make sure benefits from this activity is maximized, As a result, students from more than 20 schools coming from even the far provinces showed up. Schools represented were: Capiz State University, Columban College, Lyceum of the Philippines, Pangasinan State University, St. Mary s University Nueva Viscaya, Mapua University, Bulacan State University, Technological University of the Philippines Manila, Batangas State University, Eulogio Amang Rodriguez Institute of Science & Technology, Tarlac State University, Adamson University, University of Perpetual Help System Delta Calamba and Molino branches, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Bicol University, ALI-ADG, Bicol State Colleges of Applied Science & Technology, Technological Institute of the Phil QC, Divine Word College of Calapan, De La Salle University Dasmarinas Cavite, Eastern Visayas State University, Manuel L. Quezon University, National University, University of the East and University of Santo Tomas. As consultants/ advisers, many architects also heeded our call. They are Ar Norma Alarcon, Ar Ana M. Ling, Ar Carlo Sayco, Ar Richard Garcia, Ar Cesar N.Turla, Jr., Ar Enp Carlo F. Marudo, Ar Pedro Sonny Rodriguez, Ar Joshua Ramos, Ar Neilmar Tappa, Ar Mavic Sanchez and Ar Tobias Bonaobra. Even the UAPQC architects organizing committee helped out: Ar Marlon Reyes, Ar Maricel L. Arce-Ignacio, Ar Star F. Marudo, Ar Ryan Oliver Gonzales, Ar Isabelito Novio, Ar Rey David and Ar Cielo Perez. Major Thesis categories tackled were: Urban Environmental and Master Planning, Redevelopment Agricultural and Eco Tourism, Mixed Use Development, Special projects such as Science & Technology Research Facilities,Medical Facilities, Transport Planning Facilities, Hotels Resorts and theme parks and Educational Training Institutions. This is a truly noble way of giving back to the profession and also making sure that we continue to train competent architects to design a wholesome environment for our future. With this in mind, the UAP QUEZON CITY CHAPTER aims carry on this endeavor in many more years to come.
