EOQ Georges Borel Awards Georges Borel Award recognizes individuals who have brought an outstanding contribution to the EOQ mission, which is: Improve European society through the promotion of Quality in its broadest sense. Georges Borel was born in 1911 and left this earth on September 29th, 1982. He was a founding member and president of European Organization for Quality from 1971 till 1973 and was the first founder of the European quality movement and one of the creators of the European School for Quality. By definition, Georges Borel Award has born from the idea that the development and the promotion of the European Quality Movement is done by outstanding individuals who spend their time and energy in sharing their beliefs and knowledge for the benefit of the European Society. The European Organization for Quality, EOQ, wants to show them recognition and to thank them for their contribution.

Charles Corrie Borel Award for governmental achievements for making an outstanding accomplishment through successful promotion and deployment of quality at governmental level through his professional activities and behaviors and thus creating a visible impact in the field of quality at governmental level in his own country and at European level He has been involved in quality system standardization since the advent of BS 5750 in 1979, when working at Rolls Royce. When ISO 9001:1987 was introduced, he was working at the Loss Prevention Council, the 7th accredited certification body in the UK. In 1993 he joined the British Standards Institution (BSI) where he was seconded to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) as Secretary to ISO/TC 176/SC2, with responsibility for the development of ISO 9001:1994 and every edition since then. He has played a significant part in the development of other management standards such as: OHSAS 18001 (and the current development of its successor ISO 45001) for OH&S; the ISO 55000 series on asset management; as well as many other projects that rely on ISO 9001. He regularly participates in events all over the world, to promote the use of these standards to governments and organizations, to persuade them to adopt quality ideals and become more sustainable.

Dr. Noriaki Kano Borel Award for international achievements for being at the edge of the development, use and diffusion of quality at international level through his professional activities and behaviors, personally contributing to the development of the European Quality movement through his accomplishments with a global impact in the field of quality. The quality journey of Dr. Kano started to be supervised by Professor Kaoru Ishikawa at the University of Tokyo. The career of Dr. Kano was dedicated to conducting research and education in University of Electro- Communications and Tokyo University of Science, for which he is current Professor Emeritus. His contribution has been recognized by his election as Honorary Member by the International Academy for Quality (IAQ), the American Society for Quality(ASQ), and the Japanese Society for Quality Control (JSQC), beside others. He is the creator of Theory of Attractive Quality (Kano Model) widely used around the world as well as Task-Achieving QC Story, Daily Management and House of TQM. He is one of the founders of Asian Network for Quality (ANQ) and has been named its Honorary Chairperson. He has contributed to quality in Europe as conference speaker, visiting professor, seminar leader and consultant for various organizations including EOQ, IAQ, and Aarhus School of Business in Denmark, Finland, France, Sweden, U.K, and so on.

Viktor Seitschek Borel Award for European achievements for being at the edge of the development, use and diffusion of quality in Europe through his professional activities and behaviors and thus he has not only brought an outstanding contribution to the realization of EOQ mission at European level but also personally contributed to the development of the European Quality movement. Viktor Seitschek worked for 24 years as Quality Manager in international industrial companies in Switzerland and Austria. In 1979 he founded the Austrian Association for Quality (ÖVQ) which became in the same year the EOQ NR organization from Austria. As CEO of ÖVQ, he organized EOQ congresses in Vienna in 1989 and 2008 and was directly involved in the development of EOQ-PRU activities. He was lecturer on quality topics in more than 15 countries all over the world, being also the author of two books and more than 100 articles. Viktor Seitschek was the EOQ President during 2008 2011 and in 2010 has got the most important Austrian decoration for the accomplishments of his entire professional life, the Gold Decoration of Honour for services to the Republic of Austria.
