WHY AN ARCHITECTURE WEEK? Welcome to the third American Institute of Architects, Central Valley Chapter (AIACV) Architecture Festival, now known as AIACV Experience Architecture Week. The goal of the event remains the same with the name changing only to more adequately express the importance of recognizing that our lives are often shaped by the way we experience the built environment. The Central Valley has a unique fingerprint of history, climate, culture and place that is embodied in our architecture. That s definitely worth celebrating! We will continue to explore and discuss our regionalism along with broader topics, such as design thinking the process of developing design ideas and concepts. 7 This guide serves as a road map to discover different ways of seeing and experiencing buildings and spaces. Each event, exhibit and gathering is outlined along with a calendar to keep everything in order. We invite you to join us for 10 days of activities designed to celebrate our great region and unique Central Valley experience.
