The Academy fr Lifelng Learning WHO WE ARE We are an rganizatin f peple frm a variety f backgrunds. We share a cmmn interest in cntinuing learning experiences and intellectual stimulatin. There are n tests r grades. Members participate purely fr the jy f sharing. We are spnsred by the University f Suth Carlina Aiken and are self-supprting. Our curses and activities are planned and implemented by ur members. We design ur wn curriculum and arrange fr instructrs frm USC Aiken faculty (current and retired), frm ur wn membership, and frm the cmmunity at large. MISSION STATEMENT The missin f the Academy fr Lifelng Learning is t prvide bth structured and infrmal cntinuing educatin pprtunities fr mature individuals in the CSRA in cnjunctin with the University f Suth Carlina Aiken. These pprtunities shall include classrm instructin as well as discussins with the faculty, field trips, and scial events. MEMBERSHIP FEES Membership fr a semester is $70 per persn. The Membership fee entitles ne t take as many f the classes ffered, n a space-available basis. The fee des nt include bks r materials (if required) fr the classes r the cst f Special Events. It des include use f the Campus Library, including bk brrwing privileges and Internet access, student rates fr selected University prductins, sprts events, lectures (excluding Cultural Series), free parking n campus and a discunt fr grandchildren attending yuth summer activities spnsred by the Office f External Prgrams and Cntinuing Educatin. Parking passes will n lnger be issued. Be sure t park in spaces with white lines these are designated fr students and visitrs. Please be cnsiderate f ther Academy members and nly sign up fr the classes yu intend t attend. MEMBERSHIP REGISTRATION REGISTRATION OPENS ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 7 TH AT 9:00 am. N early registratins will be received. Please jin Academy vlunteers in Business & Educatin, Rm 124 t sign up fr yur classes n Mnday, December 7 frm 9:00am til 3:00pm. Vlunteers will als be available t receive registratins n Tuesday and Wednesday, December 8 and 9 th, frm 9:00am -3:00pm. ATTENDING CLASSES AND ACTIVITIES Yu must be pre-registered t attend each class and activity. During a semester, members wh wish t attend a class r activity fr which they are nt registered must first cntact the Office f Cntinuing Educatin t see if space is available. IN CASE OF BAD WEATHER If USCA cancels undergraduate classes due t inclement weather, any Academy classes scheduled t meet during that time will als be cancelled. Schl clsings are listed n the lcal televisin statins. REFUND POLICY Special events fill quickly and cannt be refunded. If yu are unable t attend yu are asked t find a replacement. Yu may call the Office f Cntinuing Educatin and ask if the event has a wait list. WHERE CLASSES ARE HELD REMINDER: Due t a new classrm scheduling system, sme curses may be MOVED after yur registratin frm is cmpleted.
