Who? Properties subject to the Rent Stabilization Ordinance (RSO) must have a completed Rent Registry.

ALL RSO UNITS RENTED OR OFFERED FOR RENT MUST BE REGISTERED ANNUALLY WITH HCIDLA What? Registration consist of the payment of the Annual Bill & Rent Registry &

Exemption Forms, if Applicable 2 Different Forms

ANNUAL BILL + RENT REGISTRY EXEMPTION FORM (IF APPLICABLE) When?

RSO Rent Registry Required per the City Ordinance (184529) effective October 4, 2016. A Registration Statement (Certificate) will not be issued if registration fees are not paid and the Rent Registry is not complete or submitted a Registration Statement (Certificate) is not issued. A LANDLORD CANNOT LEGALLY DEMAND OR COLLECT RENT WITHOUT A REGISTRATION STATEMENT (CERTIFICATE)

Rent Registry Ordinance #184529 effective 10-4-16 Enforcement tool to track rents and prevent illegal rent increases. Provide data on rents citywide. May assist landlord purchasers of RSO units. Assist in outreach to tenants citywide. Tenants will be sent a letter informing them of the rent amount reported by their landlord.

Rent Registry Forms PERSONALIZED BLANK

HOUSE NUMBER, STREET NAME & UNIT NUMBER(IF APPLICABLE) NUMBER OF BEDROOMS Enter a 0 for a single, studio or any rental unit which does not have a separate bedroom. MOVE-IN DATE Enter the exact or approximate month and year the tenant moved into the rental unit. CURRENT MONTHLY RENT AMOUNT OR TEMPORARILY VACANT OR EMPLOYEE UNIT Do not include temporary or one-time RSO, SCEP or other surcharges or fees. For example, the base rent is $1,000 and the tenant s rent payment includes a $3.61 surcharge and a $50 parking fee. Enter $1,000. EFFECTIVE DATE OF LAST RENT INCREASE Enter the effective date of the last rent increase. For example, a rent increase notice is dated 6/1/2016 increasing rent from $800 to $824 beginning on 8/1/2016. Enter 8/2016. UTILITY PAID BY LANDLORD Select only if the Gas and/or Electric bill is paid by the Landlord. This does not include the Landlord s payment for a common furnace boiler or hot water heater. PARKING INCLUDED IN MONTHLY RENT AMOUNT Select only if parking is provided to the tenant and is part of the rent. For example, when tenant moved into the property parking was included in the monthly rent payment. Tenant does not pay a separate charge for parking. RSO EXEMPTION APPLICATION SUBMITTED TO HCIDLA If you not collecting rent, please select the type of exemption that was submitted to HCIDLA. This information will be cross-referenced with the Exemption Application.
