Your enthusiasm for these two exhibitions has been so gratifying and, on behalf of all the artists and the creative team, we can't thank you enough. Obsessed: Compelled to make now heads off to Cairns Regional Gallery on the first leg of its national tour. The very fine films in this exhibition, made by Angus Lee Forbes, are attracting international acclaim. We are delighted to announce that the short film about weaver Liz Williamson has been accepted into the Crafts Council UK Real to Reel Film Festival and will be shown during London Craft Week in May. Our partnership with WORKSHOPPED to present WORKSHOPPED18 is in full swing with entries closing on 23 April. Industrial designers, both emerging and established, are encouraged to submit their latest furniture, lighting and homewares designs in our first year as presenting partner in this illustrious competition. Next Thursday we have not one but three new exhibitions opening Porosity Kabari, Interpretations V and En Vitrine so we'll be closed until 5 April as we work to reveal these excellent and must see shows. See the stories below for all the details and related events. Also in April I'm so looking forward to the Sherman Centre for Culture and Ideas Fashion Hub. There are so many amazing talks, forums, films and workshops, many hosted by our friends at MAAS. In the meantime stay safe over the Easter long weekend. Interpretations V: Paper (cellulose) Interpretations V explores the material limits of paper (cellulose) a challenging but incredibly rich material. Each designer has cut, folded, formed, stitched, moulded (as pulp) or laminated paper, transforming an everyday, inexpensive, two dimensional material into a threedimensional work of experimental design. The exhibition Vita has made for Object Space was conceived as a homage to a fascinating and forwardlooking window display created by Sonia Delaunay for the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. Object Space is a window gallery located on William Street in Darlinghurst. When: 5 April 23 May In Conversation: Vita Cochran On display 5 April 23 May, is the exhibition En Vitrine (In the Front Window) by textile artist, Vita Cochran. Lisa Cahill talks to Vita about her works including handembroidered handbags and applique hangings that embrace bold colour and geometry. Meet the Maker: Leonie Simpson Jeweller and designer Leonie Simpson will be in store demonstrating wax carving techniques, used in the creation of her unique Stone Set series. Leonie will talk about her practice and design techniques throughout the demonstration. Based in Sydney, Leonie creates small run jewellery collections, bespoke pieces and individual commissions. Meet the Maker: Paula do Prado Sydney textile artist Paula do Prado, will be recreating her studio in the Centre. See Paula working on her current project and the various materials and techniques she uses to create her designs. Architects are invited to design a tapestry as part of the Australian Tapestry Workshop's Tapestry Design Prize for Architects 2018. The hypothetical site is Boullée s mooted building (pictured) that was inspiration for the Pharos Wing, MONA, Tasmania, (Fender Katsalidis). Entries close Friday 15 June. There will also be an exhibition of the finalist designs. Red Room publishes poems Dr Sarah Rice was commissioned by Red Room to write a poem to accompany the ADC exhibition Obsessed: Compelled to make. She also gave a talk and led a poetry workshop encouraging participants to write creatively in response to the objects and designs on display.
