ADC Design News: your monthly update on what's happening in the world of Australian contemporary craft and design. No Images? Click here Website What's on News On Tour Donate Object Shop Thank you so much to everyone who has visited the Centre so far this year and enjoyed Obsessed: Compelled to make and Future Artefacts. Your enthusiasm for these two exhibitions has been so gratifying and, on behalf of all the artists and the creative team, we can't thank you enough. Obsessed: Compelled to make now heads off to Cairns Regional Gallery on the first leg of its national tour. The very fine films in this exhibition, made by Angus Lee Forbes, are attracting international acclaim. We are delighted to announce that the short film about weaver Liz Williamson has been accepted into the Crafts Council UK Real to Reel Film Festival and will be shown during London Craft Week in May. Our partnership with WORKSHOPPED to present WORKSHOPPED18 is in full swing with entries closing on 23 April. Industrial designers, both emerging and established, are encouraged to submit their latest furniture, lighting and homewares designs in our first year as presenting partner in this illustrious competition. For your chance to win an award, show your work at ADC and get one step closer to seeing your latest design become a production item, enter now. https://objectauscentre.createsend.com/t/viewemail/r/307a47c290e887732540ef23f30feded/c67fd2f38ac4859c/?tx=0&previewall=1&print=1 1/15

Next Thursday we have not one but three new exhibitions opening Porosity Kabari, Interpretations V and En Vitrine so we'll be closed until 5 April as we work to reveal these excellent and must see shows. See the stories below for all the details and related events. Also in April I'm so looking forward to the Sherman Centre for Culture and Ideas Fashion Hub. There are so many amazing talks, forums, films and workshops, many hosted by our friends at MAAS. In the meantime stay safe over the Easter long weekend. Lisa Cahill CEO and Artistic Director Porosity Kabari Made from materials and craftsmanship sourced solely from the Chor Bazaar (thieves market) and Kabari Bazaars (junk markets) in Mumbai, India, the works in this exhibition are the result of an interdisciplinary, crosscultural, collaborative project by Australian object designer Trent Jansen, artist/architect Richard Goodwin and Indian design thinker Ishan Khosla. When: 5 April 23 May https://objectauscentre.createsend.com/t/viewemail/r/307a47c290e887732540ef23f30feded/c67fd2f38ac4859c/?tx=0&previewall=1&print=1 2/15

Interpretations V: Paper (cellulose) Interpretations V explores the material limits of paper (cellulose) a challenging but incredibly rich material. Each designer has cut, folded, formed, stitched, moulded (as pulp) or laminated paper, transforming an everyday, inexpensive, two dimensional material into a threedimensional work of experimental design. When: 5 April 23 May Vita Cochran: En Vitrine Vita Cochran is a textile artist with a particular interest in early 20th century women modernists and the way that the decorative arts and abstract painting informed each other. https://objectauscentre.createsend.com/t/viewemail/r/307a47c290e887732540ef23f30feded/c67fd2f38ac4859c/?tx=0&previewall=1&print=1 3/15

The exhibition Vita has made for Object Space was conceived as a homage to a fascinating and forwardlooking window display created by Sonia Delaunay for the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. Object Space is a window gallery located on William Street in Darlinghurst. When: 5 April 23 May In Conversation: Vita Cochran On display 5 April 23 May, is the exhibition En Vitrine (In the Front Window) by textile artist, Vita Cochran. Lisa Cahill talks to Vita about her works including handembroidered handbags and applique hangings that embrace bold colour and geometry. Her works seek a position somewhere between utility, fashion and art. https://objectauscentre.createsend.com/t/viewemail/r/307a47c290e887732540ef23f30feded/c67fd2f38ac4859c/?tx=0&previewall=1&print=1 4/15

WORKSHOPPED18 Call for entries Australian Design Centre and WORKSHOPPED are calling for expressions of interest to exhibit as part of WORKSHOPPED18.
