Rustic & The Upper Madison River is an excellent fishery with many access points other than the subdivision common area. The Three Dollar Bridge is a very popular spot with easy public access. LOCATION: This wonderful retreat is situated in a spectacular setting in the Upper Madison Valley, approximately 40 miles south of Ennis. To reach this unique property, one must cross the Madison River at the historic Three Dollar Bridge and follow the Cliff & Wade Lake Road to the main gate of Madison River Ranches subdivision. This subdivision has a 55-acre common area along the river with a parking area, spring creeks, restored homestead buildings and picnic spot, plus easy access to the river (but no boat launching) for all property owners. The land to the North is public State Land. The HOA is active in maintaining the subdivision roads, common area and enforcing covenants to protect property values. HOA dues are $280 annually with the annual meeting held in the summer. Three Dollar Bridge over the Madison Common Area THE LAND: The 20-acre parcel sits high in the valley on a slight slope with magestic, unobstructed views and easy access from the main gate. The lot is covered with sagebrush, native grasses and dotted with natural evergreen trees. There is a deer nest in the back yard and two elk nests on the property. An elk migration trail runs along the back of the lot.
Rustic & THE CABIN: This custom cabin was built in 2012 with amazing attention to detail and quality. The logs chosen were from the largest available, from standing dead, old growth timber, dried for stability. They were all hand scraped in a custom pattern designed by the owner. The logs were hand-fitted and swedish coped so no chinking was needed. Massive character logs can be seen throughout the cabin. Interior logs were intentionally left natural, with no coating on them. The exterior logs have been stained. The windows in the prow at the front of the house are the largest double-pane windows available, supported with a double boarded window frame to protect the seal. The bottom windows have screens that roll up into a frame, so as not to hinder the view. The wood floors were made from custom, extra-wide plank boards, with three types of distressed finishes. In the hallway, kitchen and bathrooms, custometched, satin-sealed slate was used. The decking is constructed of expensive white cedar that is meant to go grey in fact it will not accept stain. It will outlast any stained plain-wood siding. And the views from this deck are breath-taking. Handrails on the deck are creatively hand -scraped and distressed.
rustic & The cabin is 2,504 SF, which includes on the main floor, a great room with kitchen, living and dining area, 3/4 bath, a master bedroom and wood stove. The custom front door provides an extrawide, 42 opening. Not only beautiful, but functional. And the wood-burning stove is a beautiful enameled shell over a steel interior. It is an attractive, practical and efficient feature of the cabin. Detail on the front of the kitchen sink.
