COMPANY PROFILE Bert van den Heever Bourekenaars Ingelyf was established in Vanderbijlpark in 1981. The directors, Bert van den Heever and Frans de Beer have been with the practice since 1981 and 1983 respectively. Both directors are registered quantity surveyors and members of the ASAQS. Mr van den Heever obtained an MBL in 1982 specialising in property development and project management and is a member of the Project Management Institute of South Africa. He was also one of the first registered Project Construction Management Professionals in terms of Act 48 of 2000. He is also the editor of the Weekend Property and Construction e- Newsletter published on behalf of ASAQS and distributed to about 5,000 subscribers worldwide. Bert van den Heever Bourekenaars Ing have built a reputation for providing a personal service to their clients who include Local Authorities, Government Departments, large industrial concerns such as Sasol, Natref and ArcelorMittal, property development companies such as Vesco, Sakhisizwe Holdings and various other institutions and charitable bodies. Bert van den Heever Bourekenaars Ing have been commissioned for schemes over much of Gauteng and the Free State including a number of prestigious and award winning projects such as the new Laboratory building at Sasol Midlands, the KGodiso Business Centre, the Grandstand for the Vaal University of Technology and the Meetsea-Bophelo School for ArcelorMittal. They have extensive experience in petro-chemical work and were involved in several facets of Sasol s project Turbo. They have also built a reputation as project managers and have successfully project managed a large number of diverse projects including a private hospital, lab refitment, housing and several township infrastructure projects. Whilst many projects have been in Gauteng they are currently involved in projects as far afield as Zimbabwe and Mauritania. PROJECTS Bert van den Heever Bourekenaars Ing have been involved in numerous challenging projects. VAAL TRIANGLE TECHNIKON GRANDSTAND 1994 This trussed and tensioned steel structure was erected over an existing clubhouse building and received a construction award from the South African Institute of Steel Construction in 1995. CREDO PRIMARY SCHOOL 2000 Mrs Winkie Direko, Premier of the Free State, Mr Paul Kruger Chairman of Sasol Limited, Mr Nelson Mandela former president of South Africa, Mr Humphries Jooste Architect and Bert van den Heever Quantity Surveyor. The site was handed over in February 2000 and this unique school was completed within 6 months and well within the budget. Bert van den Heever Mr Bert van den Heever has always had a keen interest in community development. After leaving the Kwa-Zulu Development Corporation in 1981he settled in the Vaal where he served as chairman on the Vaal Regional Development Organisation, the Lema O Kotule small-scale farming community-project, the board of 90.6FM and chairs the advisory committee of Jeugland old age home. His practice was one of the few smaller quantity surveying firms who were included in the first pilot roster of the Department of Public Works in recognition of the firm s employment of previously disadvantaged individuals since the mid-eighties.
