Mojave Elks Lodge #2059 The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America Editors: Paul & Kira Wagner Volume 62 Issue 11

A Message From The Exalted Ruler Warren Guest Well, here we are in the second and shortest month of a brand new year which happens to be the next to last month of the Elk year. At our first regular meeting on Wednesday the 7th we will recognize the Elk tradition of "PER night". Past Exalted Rulers will man the Officer chairs. This doesn't mean current Officers can stay home. Hey, your PER may not show or forget what to do. Most importantly, this meeting is also the first night of Officer nominations. Remember, nominated members must be present to accept. Wednesday the 14th is Valentine's Day which our Lodge will celebrate on Friday the 16th. Yes, coincidentally, that is the 150th Anniversary of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks initiated by the "Jolly Corks" in 1868. Our second regular meeting will occur on Wednesday the 21st. At this time we will finish nominations, for those chairs which are still open, followed by election of Officers for 2018-2019. In the event that some chairs are still open keep in mind that Grand Lodge Statutes require the current Officer to hold that office until a relief is found. New Officers will be installed by the Lancaster Elks Installation Team currently scheduled for March 17th...subject to change. Installation and dinner makes for a great night. Please remember, it's time to pay your dues. This is also a great time to include your donation to ENF (Elks National Foundation) and/or our Major Project (Purple Pig)...I'm gonna write my checks right now!!! Warren Guest PSVP Exalted Ruler A Message From The Leading Knight Kira Wagner As February is upon us the coming of spring brings a promise of change. Our annual nominations and elections will happen this month, we celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Elks as well as Valentines Day. If you are reading this know that you are appreciated. You re support over the past year, in whatever form it has taken, has not gone unnoticed. Many of you live at a distance and so your membership, prayers and good wishes are all you can bring to the table, thank you. Many find their time or health allowing them to make the occasional trip to the lodge and your support of the clubhouse is appreciated too. Your contributions make a valued difference in our budget! Finally to my fellow officers and committee chairs, no one knows better than you the multiple tasks that are required to keep our lodge moving forward. As a notfor-profit fraternal organization, we have an number of obligations to keep the doors open as well as provide a pleasant, if not outright fun, experience for those members in the area. Thank you to the following members who I know invest their time and effort to make sure we have a lodge that is running!! Ken Miller, Ashley Wussick, Joe Hodgkinson, Ted & Cindy Hodgkinson, Todd & Leslie Smith, Theodore Miller, Dave Cleveland, Stephen Rushford, Kyle Collier, Rebecca Watts, Ramona & Mike Mestes, the Trio -- (Gene, Bob, & Dave, who are so much more than BSE s ), Blaine Osmond, Charlie Guest, Alexa Rogers, Monte Meeks, Colleen & Kenny Heller, Gini Heller, Dollie Cooksey, Gary Sampley, Paul Wagner, Hank Parker, Deborah Smoot and finally, our Exalted Ruler, Warren Guest. Please forgive me if I ve missed anyone!!
