Page 5 teachers Lisa Schadel (Whittier), Kelly Wohlgamuth (Wilson Vance), and Maggie Maag (Wilson Vance) were selected by the University of Findlay and the Community Foundation to be three of nine Hancock County teachers to receive the Fulbright Scholarship to tour and study in Japan. The focus of this program was to examine Japanese culture firsthand, with the goal of bringing more internationalization to our local classrooms. Congrats to Mrs. Lori Hunt, Counselor at Glenwood Middle School. Lori's work, titled "Grief Support Session for Children" was recently published in the Ohio Counseling Association, Summer Edition. Mr. Alvarado had the opportunity to talk with U.S. Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan at a principals roundtable in Toledo.
First Day Fun!!!! Page 6 The Donnell Band kicked off the school year with their 2 nd Annual Donut Day. Students came in at 7 AM to enjoy some donuts/fruit and apple juice. It was a great way to start the school year!
Page 7 SHOCKWAVE Marches in Findlay 4th of July Parade This past July SHOCKWAVE, Findlay MS Indoor Drumline marched in the Findlay 4th of July Parade. The drumline has marched in the parade since the parade has returned four years ago. This marks the first parade of the season for SHOCKWAVE. Next the group will be preparing for the Homecoming parade this fall. Donnell JAZZ and Glenwood Jazz Band students perform at Groundwork Jazz Camp For a couple of days in July ten students from Donnell and two from Glenwood participated in the Annual Groundwork Jazz Camp at the University of Bluffton. There were a total of 22 students all together and Findlay had over half. The Bands worked on selections by local composer and Ohio Music Education Association District III Honor Jazz Director Paul Baransy and his assistant Charlie Doepker. Donnell Band Director Brian D. Sheehe said "This is always a great experience for the students to get some playing in and see how they stack up with students around northwest Ohio".

As you can see, there are many new faces this year. Welcome to the team! Jacob Klein (8 th grader at Donnell) a member of the SHOCKWAVE drumline for the past 3 seasons went to the Matrix Drumline camp this summer. Matrix is a top 5 World finalist in the Independent World class yearly. Matrix held a camp to increase skills and performance habits. Jacob was the youngest student at camp.
