It examines the sernas, a Medieval term relating to agrarian lands, using historical documents and records from the Middle Ages in an attempt to determine the purpose of these spaces. The author also studies their physical makeup using cadastral maps, as well as their role in modern-day agricultural practices. It is concluded that the sernas represented arable land dedicated to the cultivation of cereals for the surrounding populations.
