Historical note This collection comprises oral history interviews that were conducted as part of the Margaret MacVicar Memorial AMITA (Association of MIT Alumnae) Oral History Project, which has been directed by MIT Associate Professor Margery Resnick (Foreign Languages and Literatures) since 990. The goal of the project is to document the life histories of MIT alumnae through interviews conducted by students working in MIT s Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP). The project also provides an opportunity for students to learn about women of another generation by collecting background information about the alumnae subjects and conducting interviews. The project is endowed by funds provided by MIT alumnae and is ongoing. Scope and Contents of the Collection This collection consists of oral histories conducted with women graduates of the Massachusetts institute of Technology (MIT). The earliest graduation date of those interviewed is 9. The majority of interviewees earned undergraduate degrees from MIT, and several were later associated with MIT in administrative roles. The oral histories are a resource for researchers of the history of women in the fields of science, engineering, technology, and architecture; the role of women in higher education; and the evolution of the involvement of women at MIT. There are audio casettes of a few of the interviews, but access to them is restricted by the gift agreements. Administrative Information Publication Information Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
