The Galway Lion Members Bulletin July 2017 Editor: Tom Hogan Deputy Editor: Frank Conlan. Photographs: Tom Murphy, Tom Hogan. Publishing and Circulation: Pat Dempsey Editorial: July has come around again, and with it the start of a new Lions Year. President Jim Kent has no doubt ambitious plans for all manner of activities for the next 12 months, and we will be all ears to discover what they are on Monday next. Every success in your year President Jim, and well done I.P.P. Matt on a busy year just ended. June Meeting: As this was President Matt s final meeting in charge, he got the meeting under way promptly, knowing that the handover ceremony was to take place after the meeting. A big event since our last meeting was the Golf Classic at Galway Golf Club. The event was a huge success and raised almost 6,000 towards the Syria project. Expert Ireland and Peter Murphy Electrical sponsored the event and all participants had an enjoyable day out. Well done Peter Murphy and his committee. Thunderous Applause, Thunderous Applause, Thunderous Applause. Trabolgan: Tom Burke reported that our bus load of guests had a good holiday in Trabolgan, supported by a total of 12 Galway Lions who visited during the week. The group had a break for refreshments at the Charleville Park Hotel, sponsored by Pat McDonagh, Supermacs on the outward journey and by Colm Feeney, SSL Logistics on the return journey. Well done to Tom and all involved. Thunderous Applause, Thunderous Applause, Thunderous Applause. The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing.
