The soils are listed in the Soil Survey of England and Wales as belonging to both the Wisbech Soil Association, described as deep stoneless calcareous coarse silty soils being suited to potatoes, sugar beet, cereals and vegetables in rotation, and the Wallasea 2 Soil Association, described as deep stoneless clayey soils, calcareous in places, being suited to winter cereals, some sugar beet, potatoes and field vegetables.
