Rêves d Orient Collection by Kenzo Takada Rêves d Orient illustrates the critical intersection between fashion and design, where couture meets custom hand-tufted carpets for residences, hotels, and yachts. Takada reinterprets the rug, taking it beyond fashion or home decor, evoking instead a luxurious, gracious and fashionable lifestyle. Wools and silks are united in a single weft, creating complex textures that catch the light in different ways. The carpets patterns are complex, with designs layered one on top of the next. Like the designs, the colour palette is sensitively calibrated; the layering of numerous colours is so subtle that it gives the initial impression of just a single, complex hue.

About Kenzo Takada For over 30 years, Kenzo Takada has been one of the world s most celebrated fashion designers. His designs reflect a distinct perspective that blends influences from the East with features of his Japanese heritage. Takada counters trends and uncertainties of the 21st century with fresh inspiration. Taking time off to travel, he explored new cultures and discovered new influences. He reacquainted himself with his native Japan. Step by step, he traveled down his own Silk Road, taking his observations with him into the design studio. From one collection to another, I choose themes, as I have always done, says Takada. The main thread of my creations ties up the East and the West. This collection Rêves d Orient beautifully illustrates Kenzo Takada s multifaceted vision and highlights his versatility as a designer.
