At the end of my PhD thesis I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who supported me throughout my promotion and thereby contributed to the success of this work. First of all I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my supervisor Prof. Dr. Kathrin Thedieck. With your guidance I learnt how to approach scientific questions. Your sedulous scientific curiosity combined with constant support and uncountable fruitful discussions gave me the opportunity to work on an interesting and challenging project and grow as a scientist. You gave me the possibility to perform my PhD thesis in your department, gave me insights in the C. elegans field, and supported me with my transfer to the UMCG in Groningen.
