Golden Isles Association of REALTORS Objectives The objectives of the Association are: 1. To unite those engaged in the recognition of conduct in the real estate profession for the purpose of exerting a beneficial influence upon the profession and related interests. 2. To promote and maintain high standards of conduct in the real estate profession as expressed in the Code of Ethics of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS. 3. To provide a unified medium for real estate owners and those engaged in the real estate profession whereby their interests may be safeguarded and advanced. 4. To further the interests of home and other real property ownership. 5. To unite those engaged in the real estate profession in this community with the Georgia Association of REALTORS and the National Association of REALTORS, thereby furthering their own objectives throughout the state and nation, and obtaining the benefits and privileges of membership therein. 6. To designate, for the benefit of the public, individuals authorized to use the terms REALTOR and REALTORS as licensed, prescribed, and controlled by the National Association of REALTORS. SHORT TERM GOALS: 1-3 YEARS 1.) Promotion and Publication (internal and public) a) Promote current housing statistics for media b) Promote the benefits of using a REALTOR c) Promote the services of REALTORS to the public d) Promote the value of a REALTOR to non-english speaking consumers e) Promote state and local real property issues to the public f) Promote our different committees and their involvement in the Association, both to membership and the public g) Promote Community Activities i. Highlight the GIAR contributions to and participation in Habitat for Humanity, CASA, and Relay for Life, etc. ii. Promote projects to benefit worthy organizations, i.e.; Hospice, etc. 2.) Political and Governmental Affairs a) Promote RPAC continue ways to educate membership and public and encourage contribution and recognition at all levels b) Stay current with laws and regulations. e) Stay current with state and federal issues. Membership Participation a) Educate members on the proper use of the REALTOR R b) Promote the use of the REALTOR R in all aspects of business (letterhead, pins, cards, etc.) c) Promote the NAR Member Benefits program to all members of the Association d) Encourage members to join and participate in state and local community organizations i. Identify the organizations in which our members are already participating and promote and recognize those activities ii. Educate membership on the values of NAR, GAR and GIAR membership e)continue our participation in Chamber of Commerce f)improve our relationship with our Affiliates g)develop new relationships with other industry groups 4.) d) Offer courses focused toward broker/manager education e) Offer courses focused toward niche markets (2 nd home market, first time home buyers, international buyers, etc.) f) Provide programs and courses that promote professionalism g) Provide Code of Ethics courses h) Provide education tailored to members working with multicultural consumers i) Increase awareness of scholarship available through the GIAR j) Provide night classes on several subjects. k) Continue and grow on-going non CE training (technology, finance/new homes) l) Examine internet vs. classroom classes m) Explore the use of motivational speakers n) Creation of leadership development program. This program should consist of several educational programs that upon completion would qualify participants to levels of leadership with our association. o) Review the utilization of the new telecommunications training system (video conferencing) to offer subjects currently available in other locations 5.) e) Establish a broadcast broker network f) Research different MLS systems and look at future contracts 6.) Management a) Increase awareness of scholarships via MLS front page, newsletter/ website b) Broker Council i. Increase participation of brokers ii. Promote dissemination of all current information a it applies to brokers c) Continually invite affiliates and increase their participation d) Promote programs available to all members such as respect for peers, respect for buyers and seller, business etiquette, the REALTOR Code of Ethics and REALTOR Pride e) Ensure the participation of all Association Directors, Grievance and Professional Standards committee members in taking the necessary training programs to qualify f) Ensure all new members attend two (2) day orientation including ethics. Work to improve format, content and usefulness. g) Develop and maintain all by-laws and policies for Association and MLS. h) Research on new facility including parking, availability for our own school i) Research new building and facilities research possible REALTOR Store, rentable office space, etc. 7.)
