Global Presence

International Acclaim and Recognition ZHA s outstanding contribution to architecture continues to be acknowledged by the world s most respected institutions such as the Royal Institute of British Architects, the American Institute of Architects, the International Olympic Committee, Government bodies, and many others.

Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) was founded in 1979 and has been at the forefront of architecture, art and design for 35 years. The practice is known internationally for dynamic and innovative projects which build on Zaha Hadid s revolutionary exploration and research in the interrelated fields of urbanism, architecture and design. In 2004 she received the Pritzker Prize in recognition of her outstanding contribution to architecture, and in 2016 she received the RIBA Royal Gold Medal.

Although we lost our founder in March 2016, her vision and design methods remain embedded in the DNA of our practice, through our many staff who studied and worked with her over nearly four decades. 31/10/1950 Baghdad, Iraq 31/03/2016 Miami, Florida, USA Zaha Hadid s long-time collaborator and design partner Patrik Schumacher remains involved as chief designer in every project that we undertake. He sets the initial direction for each project, and guides the development of design ideas in collaboration with the design team, just as he and Zaha have done for many years.

Serpentine Sackler Gallery Location Kensington Gardens, London, UK Date 2009 2013 Client The Serpentine Trust Size 1,566m 2

Serpentine Sackler Gallery The Serpentine Sackler Gallery consists of two distinct parts, namely the conversion of a classical 19th century brick structure The Magazine and a 21 st century tensile structure. The Serpentine Sackler Gallery is thus after MAXXI in Rome the second art space where Zaha Hadid Architects have created a synthesis of old and new.

Glasgow Riverside Museum Location Glasgow, United Kingdom Date 2004 2011 Client Glasgow City Council Size 11,000m 2

Glasgow Riverside Museum The museum, a sectional extrusion open at both ends, its outline encapsulating a wave or pleat, flows from city to waterfront, symbolizing dynamic relationship between Glasgow and the shipbuilding, seafaring and industrial legacy of the river Clyde. Clear glass facades allow light to flood through the main exhibition space.

Investcorp Building Location Oxford, United Kingdom Date 2013 2015 Client Middle East Centre, St. Antony s College, University of Oxford Size 1,200m 2

Investcorp Building The new Investcorp Building for the Middle East Centre provides 1,127 square metres of additional floor space and a new 117- seat lecture theatre; doubling the space available for the Middle East Centre s expanding library archive, and providing optimum conditions to conserve and manage the centre s collections that were previously stored in the basement of 66 Woodstock Road.

London Aquatics Centre Location London, United Kingdom Date 2005 2011 Olympic Mode 2012 2014 Legacy Mode Client Olympic Delivery Authority Size 36,875m 2

London Aquatics Centre A concept inspired by the fluid geometry of water in motion, creating spaces and a surrounding environment in sympathy with the river landscape of the Olympic Park. An undulating roof sweeps up from the ground as a wave, enclosing the pools of the Centre with its unifying gesture.

ROCA London Gallery Location London, United Kingdom Date 2009 2011 Client ROCA Ltd Size 1,100m 2

JCDecaux Billboards Location London, United Kingdom Date 2014-2018 Client JCDecaux Size Length: 30m Height: 6.9/2.8m

JCDecaux Billboard Resembling a twisted ribbon, ZHA s JCDecaux sculptural advertising structure sits beside the A4 dual carriageway on one of London s busiest roads. The display is capable of blending into the form, enhancing the form, and moving beyond the traditional rectangular advertising format.

BIM Levels ZHA have successfully implemented many BIM Level 1 & 2 projects, the AEC Industry is struggling to find BIM Level 3 implementation

BIM vs Traditional project knowledge curve Reduce handover exchange interop Share standards Execution plan Common data environment Interoperable file formats

BIM vs 2D CAD Resource profile So why would ZHA invest in any additional work at the early stages? If ZHA have a greater role in later project stages the up front investment pays Otherwise we are setting a project up reduce the risk and workload at later stages for all So ask additional fees or simply front load fees to reflect the earlier costs? The decision if and when to move to BIM can be driven by what stage we hand over to our LEA and the scope split If we have scope limited to early stage design we can simple hand over BIM usable data for others to integrate into a BIM model
