Question on Notice No. 433 Asked on 5 June 2013 MR MULHERIN asked the Minister for Housing and Public Works (Mr Mander) QUESTION: Will the Minister provide a full list of all existing public housing stock (including houses, units and vacant land) that is being considered for sale or disposal (listed by type of property, land area and street access). ANSWER: The department regularly assesses its stock portfolio and property realignment is part of the department s strategic asset management process. Current demand for housing assistance is primarily for one and two bedroom dwellings. The department disposes of three and four bedroom houses that are old and require high levels of maintenance. The department reinvests in new housing that is more appropriate to the needs of tenants, improves amenity and lowers maintenance costs. This strategic asset management process aims to deliver a net increase in housing stock across the State and in areas of highest need. Properties and land currently approved for sale are listed at Attachment 1.
