WHEREAS, Mrs. Gertrude Maxwell, formerly of Highland Park, now residing in Palm Beach, Florida, is the President and founder of SAVE-A-PET INC; and WHEREAS, the Village of Skokie was the first suburb to grant financial assistance to SAVE-A-PET; and WHEREAS, SAVE-A-PET, located in Palatine, Illinois, was formed to save animals from extermination and to place strays for adoption; and WHEREAS, August 2, 2012, SAVE-A-PET will celebrate its 41 st Anniversary. NOW, THEREFORE,the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Skokie, in recognition of these humane principles for which SAVE-A-PET was created, and recognizing the dedication and affirmative action displayed by SAVE-A-PET to the needless destruction of helpless animals, and in further recognition of the fact that many of our Skokie citizens have had their pets returned to them as a result of the SAVE-A-PET Program, do hereby proclaim the month of August as "SAVE-A-PET MONTH" and urge all of our citizens to recognize and support the program. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 37 38 39 WHEREAS, the reclassification of the Subject Property to the CX Core Mixed-use district in order will make the zoning of the properties along the east and west sides of Skokie Boulevard between Main Street and Oakton Street consistent; and WHEREAS, the Subject Property is surrounded by the CTA Yellow Line Oakton- Skokie station, a short-term municipal parking lot with a proposed walk-up ATM, hightension overhead power lines and towers, and various service/office uses; and WHEREAS, the land use trend in the general area within the past 25 years has been towards commercial and mixed uses along Skokie Boulevard, transportation uses along the CTA Yellow Line between Searle Parkway and Oakton Street, and research and development uses to the west of the Subject Property; and WHEREAS, the Community Development Department staff is supportive of the zoning changes, as it better reflects the intent of the Village s Comprehensive Plan for Sector A; and WHEREAS, the Skokie Plan Commission, at a public hearing duly held on April 19, 2012, at which no interested parties testified, (a) determined that proper notice had been given; (b) made the appropriate findings of fact in the affirmative as required under Section 118-32 of the Skokie Village Code, and (c) voted to recommend to the Mayor and Board of Trustees that the requested zoning reclassification be granted and the Official Zoning Map of the Village of Skokie be amended to reflect this reclassification; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Board of Trustees, after public meeting duly held on June 4, 2012, concurred in the aforesaid recommendation of the Plan Commission; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Skokie, Cook County, Illinois: Section 1: That the Subject Property, legally described above and commonly known as 8120 Skokie Boulevard, Skokie, Illinois, be and the same is hereby classified as CX Core Mixed-Use district. Any outdoor sound systems shall at all times maintain audio levels that are compliant with the Village Code; 5. All public sidewalks damaged due to the implementation of this plan shall be replaced; 6. The proposed ATM and any alterations shall meet current International Building, Electrical, and NFPA Life Safety Codes and state requirements as amended; 7. All modifications to the ATM elevations, signage, and landscaping shall be subject to the review and approval of the Skokie Appearance Commission; 8. Prior to the issuance of building permits, the ATM owner/provider shall submit to the Planning Division of the Community Development Department the name, address, and telephone number of the company and contact person responsible for the ATM maintenance in compliance with the special use permit; 9. If work is to be performed on public property or if public property is utilized or impacted during construction and/or development, the owner shall provide, or shall cause the ATM owner/provider to provide, the Village of Skokie with a certificate of insurance naming the Village of Skokie as additionally insured for any and all claims related to any and all work.
