The Dutch public geo-information playing field Space for Geo-information (RGI) 2004 2009 innovation programme strengthening the knowledge infrastructure for SDI s Geonovum April 2007 mandated by the GI Council and public geo-sector participant in RGI and user of its results

Geonovum and the Dutch NSDI makes geo-information accessible in the Netherlands and develops and maintains the required geo-standards acts as facilitator of the Dutch NSDI mandated by the GI Council and public geo-sector

Geonovum: goals Dutch NSDI: development, standardisation and innovation knowledge gathering and transfer promotion of access to NSDI for public parties in the Netherlands and Europe

Geonovum: tasks being a thinktank for geo-information being the voice of geo-sector for the Minister of VROM and GI Council developing and implementing of national geo-standards and monitoring of their use sharing and unlocking of all available geo-information

Need for results Potential use: Monitor state and use of NSDI in relation to vision, the past and other countries Steer further development and stimulate use efficiently Co-ordination of international SDI s Input for Action Plan Strengthening Dutch NSDI Geonovum mandated by GI Council

Need for results User demands: in line with INSPIRE Monitoring & Reporting rules focus on: Metadata: existence and compliance to rules Spatial datasets: existence, harmonisation, interoperability and consistency reuse of results NSDI and INSPIRE

Need for results User demands: little effort and partly automated enable regular updates understandable for non-scientists input needed from public parties quantitative and qualitative results to be defined
