directions From St Andrews take the A915 south. Continue out of the town and fork right onto the b9131, signposted to Anstruther. Follow this road south for 3 miles. The private road to High beley and Chesters farm is on the right hand side. Follow this private road for about ½ mile. High beley is the first house on the left. SituAtion High beley is situated around 4 miles south of the historic town of St Andrews, in a stunning setting on top of a hill with absolutely superb views over the surrounding countryside and out to sea. St Andrews is renowned worldwide as the Home of golf. There are now seven golf courses under the management of the St Andrews links Trust, including the Castle Course which opened in 2008. The courses at Elie, Crail, leven and lundin links are all within easy reach. St. Andrews is also well known for its university which is one of the oldest in britain, founded in 1410. The town provides good state schooling at Madras College and private schooling at St leonards, and Dundee High School is easily accessible. The town has a good range of shops, hotels, restaurants and recreational and cultural facilities which include a cinema, theatre, swimming pool, golf museum and castle museum. To the south of St Andrews is the East Neuk of Fife, with a spectacular coastline which boasts fishing villages built around picturesque harbours and sandy unspoilt beaches. Access by rail, road and air is good. leuchars railway station is on the main Aberdeen to london line and provides a fast link to Dundee and Edinburgh and a sleeper service to london. Edinburgh Airport, with its increasingly wide range of domestic and international flights, is only 50 miles. There is a dual carriageway and motorway connection to Edinburgh from Kirkcaldy (23 miles). description High beley is a distinctive country house built on the site of a former farmhouse in 1988. The original barn forms the main part of the house with a tower to the side being linked by a joining hallway. The house has traditional Scots features including crow stepped gables, steep pitched tiled roofs and harled outer walls. Internally the house has a practical layout and is finished to a high standard. The rooms take best advantage of the superb views out to sea. Special features include a central dining hall with a galleried, first floor landing above.
