The event participants included industry corporations, government officials, academics, and research institutions in the pipeline safety, technology, risk management, and emergency response industries, to allow the Alberta delegation to meet local stakeholders and seek joint business opportunities. Amount: $2,471.55 Location: Taipei, Taiwan Date: June 7, 2016 Purpose: Hosted an Africa Oil and Gas Forum during the 2016 Global Petroleum Show to profile Canadian Ambassadors/High Commissioners and Trade Commissioners and provide a perspective of potential opportunities for Alberta companies in the oil and gas service sector. Amount: $1,552.50 Location: Calgary, Canada Date: June 8, 2016 Purpose: Hosted a VIP Business Reception with Calgary Economic Development during the 2016 Global Petroleum Show to allow Alberta companies to network with international participants. During the session, companies were given an overview of opportunities and challenges facing Mexico s oil and gas industry, in order to prepare them for matchmaking meetings with Mexican companies during the mission. Amount: $2,070.25 Location: Monterrey, Mexico Date: June 16 17, 2016 Purpose: Hosted the Northern Health Summit 2016 addressing key health care priorities within the region by facilitating information sharing, dialogue, and discussion with northern community leaders such as mayors, reeves, First Nations Chiefs, Metis Settlement Chairs, Members of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta (MLAs), Members of Parliament (MPs), post-secondary leaders, and health care experts. Date: June 22, 2016 Purpose: Hosted a networking and information session with members of the Energy Forum and Canada UK Chamber of Commerce to discuss Alberta s new energy and climate leadership policies, as well as to recognize the role of the Canada UK Chamber of Commerce in promoting Alberta trade and investment in the UK. Amount: $843.59 Location: London, England Date: June 30, 2016 Purpose: Hosted the Canada Day networking event, involving key players in the Canada-South China relationship such as local officials, commercial partners, and media, to highlight the new Alberta Guangzhou Office, establish contacts with local officials, and show goodwill with the Consulate. Amount: $1,441.65 Location: Guangzhou, China Date: July 12, 2016 Purpose: Hosted the Stampede Investment Forum (SIF) with Calgary Economic Development, Alberta s Industrial Heartland Association, and Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers. The three day event targeted at attracting foreign investment to Alberta by highlighting its strengths and opportunities across industries. It provided international investors with an opportunity to meet with local industry and government representatives in order to expand networks and explore partnerships. Amount: $13,306.27 Location: Calgary, Canada Date: August 2, 2016 Purpose: Hosted a networking session to recognize the 35th anniversary of the Alberta Heilongjiang sister province relationship, which has expanded Alberta s influence and reputation nationally as well as strengthened relations with key trade and investment partners in that province. The event was an important part of the sister province relationship, which provides a means of establishing direct and formal relations with foreign jurisdictions and creates a pillar on which economic relations are built. Participants included government officials from both Alberta and Heilongjiang. Amount: $959.45 Location: Edmonton, Canada Date: October 20, 2016 Purpose: Hosted the annual Business Opportunities Seminar, offering attendees a chance to learn of opportunities with International Financial Institutions such as the African Development Bank, Asian Development Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, InterAmerica Development Bank, and World Bank, and how to bid on their projects. Date: October 26, 2016 Purpose: Hosted seminars during the Korea Importers Association (KOIMA) visit to Alberta, to allow Korean representatives in the chemicals, agriculture, food and dairy, beauty products, and information technologies industries to network and build relationships with Alberta companies in the same sectors.
