DESCRIPTION Located just to the west of Cullompton, Hillersdon Wood presents an excellent opportunity for investors looking for a commercial woodland with an enjoyable amenity element. Throughout the woods a mixture of tracks and rides break up the compartments and have been used for the felling and thinning work completed to date. The wood benefits from excellent links to the extended trunk road infrastructure, providing easy access to sawmills and timber markets. The deciduous crops consist of a collection of mature beech, sweet chestnut with mixed broadleaves with a small area of young mixed broadleaf planting. This provides a very pleasant feel of a mature English woodland somewhat untouched and peaceful. By contrast the coniferous crops comprise a good commercial plantation. There are several areas of juvenile and mature Douglas fir with some adolescent Sitka spruce being found in the western-most section of the wood. The mature Douglas fir has been thinned in the western compartments and a western red cedar understorey established. These crops offer a valuable range of mature timber ready to provide an income and younger crops growing to create the future value of the wood. The standard of management, especially for the young Douglas fir crops, is excellent with consistent weeding and care ensuring a viable crop is established. New owners will be able to take an opportunity to harvest firewood or log wood and influence the future direction and planting structure of this excellent Devon wood. STOCKING SCHEDULE Cpt. Area P.
