Work Terre Mécanique In collaboration with MIT s Self Assembly Lab, Kelly Nipper presents Terre Mécanique, her Performa 17 Commission. Terre Mécanique is a performance with four performers, an architectural scale printer, an 8 diameter spherical tank and object-environments inspired by the materiality of movement and dancers bodies. The performance brings together early experiments in the evolution of still and moving images, Laban Movement Analysis, and the transformation of space through the process of engineering and object production. This process of shaping large scale works through the iteration of many ancillary pieces is an emblematic part of Nipper s artistic practice. Terre Mécanique dismantles ideas about the built environment and interpersonal communication while exploring systems of meaning that are abstract and obscure, on an epistemological periphery.
