The 50 th German Historikertag in Goettingen 2014 Page 1 The 50 th German Historikertag will be held September 23 26, 2014, in Goettingen. This biennial event is one of Europe s largest humanities conferences and covers all areas of historical research. Around 3,500 guests are expected to visit and participate. Under the auspices of the Prime Minister of Lower Saxony, Mr Stephan Weil, this anniversary convention is organized by the German Association of Historians (VHD Verband der Historiker und Historikerinnen Deutschlands) and the German Association of History Teachers (VGD Verband der Geschichtslehrer Deutschlands) in cooperation with the University of Goettingen. Over the span of four days and more than 60 different sections, German and international speakers will present and discuss current historical research under the motto of Winners and Losers. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is the official Partner Country of the 50 th German Historikertag. Great Britain has strong historic ties to the state of Lower Saxony, the city of Goettingen and especially the University of Goettingen, the Georgia Augusta, which was founded and named after Georg August, Electore of Brunswick-Luneburg (Hanover) who also was Georg II., King of Great Britain. A traditional element of each Historikertag is the large trade exhibition of publishing houses, NGOs, foundations and research institutions. It offers a forum for presenting new publications and keeping in touch with the research community, students, journalists, history teachers and pupils as well as the interested public.

1. The Venue Campus Page 2 The campus for the humanities at the University of Goettingen The part of campus where the humanities are located lies in close proximity to the city center of Goettingen. Both the distance from the railway station to campus and the distance from campus to downtown are less than one kilometer. Goettingen is directly connected to the A7 Interstate, which links Northern and Southern Germany, running from Denmark to Austria. Furthermore, Goettingen is served by over 100 high-speed trains (ICE) daily and thus interconnected with major cities like Munich, Berlin or Zurich. Campus Railway Station A7 Interstate Downtown

The Venue Buildings Page 3 The buildings on the campus for the humanities at the University of Goettingen The campus area designated to the humanities encompasses the main building of the Goettingen State and University Library (SUB), the central lecture hall complex (ZHG), the main cafeteria (Z-Mensa), the general office and administration building named blue tower (Blauer Turm), a multi purpose building (VG Verfuegungsgebaeude), the department buildings for the faculty of law (Juridicum), the faculty of theology (Theologicum), and the faculty of economics (Oeconomicum), as well as the newly constructed study hall (LuSt), which will be inaugurated shortly. 2. The Venue ZHG Page 4 The central lecture hall complex (ZHG) Built in 1972, the central lecture hall complex (ZHG) constitutes the heart of the campus. It is accessible from all directions and interconnected with the blue tower and the main cafeteria. It contains 16 lecture halls with a joint capacity of 4,000 people. During the 50 th German Historikertag all sections, general meetings and presentations of the school program will be held here. For that purpose, all of the 16 lecture halls will be put to use. Exhibition Space Page 5 Exhibition Space: Central lecture hall complex (ZHG) Address: Zentrales Hoersaalgebaeude (ZHG), Platz der Goettinger Sieben, 37073 Goettingen Profile in Brief: The designated exhibition space is located in the foyer on the ground and first floor of the central lecture hall complex (ZHG), where all academic presentations and lectures of the school program will be held. Part of the publisher s fair will be three catering stands, a lounge area and the PhD poster presentation. Accreditation and conference office will be residing on the first floor, while the Café Campus is situated on the ground floor. On the other side of the ZHG the Café Zentral connects the central lecture hall complex to the main cafeteria (Z-Mensa). Four of the lecture halls (008, 009, 010 and 011) are two-storied and can be accessed either from ground level or from the upper floor. The ground floor also leads to the seven lecture halls 001-007, on the first floor are the entrances to lecture halls 101-105. The upper floor, where one third of the function rooms will be set up as well as the lounge area, the PhD poster presentation, the PC work station lab, accreditation and conference office, is designed as a gallery looking over the foyer of the ground level. Six grand staircases interconnect both stories. This structure ensures that all visitors and participants of the 50 th German Historikertag will spread evenly across the conference space. The position at the center of campus and next to the city center is attractive to guests and will bring visitors to the trade exhibition, the more so as there will be no admission fee to the publisher s fair. Exhibition Space / Booth Size The total expanse of the space amounts to 4,000 sqm; 923 sqm of which are designated to hold exhibition booths There will be 118 booth units in total, with sizes ranging from 4 to 24.5 sqm The individual booth units are numbered from 001-067 (referring to a panel on the ground level) and 101-151 (referring to the upper level). Booth Unit Rental Prices Ground floor: 70 per sqm (plus VAT) First floor: 60 per sqm (plus VAT)

3. Exhibition Space Conditions 1 Page 22 Booth Unit Rental Prices All prices are quoted in Euro and exclusive of VAT. The charge covers booth rent for the entire duration of the conference as well as all services pertaining to exhibitors specified below. Charitable associations are granted a discount of 50 %. Booking Process Starting November 1, you may choose three different booth units or unit areas and enter them as your options. It is possible to select several booth units and compile them into a single unit area, thus entering the newly conjoined space as one option. Options can be send in until November 30. Please send your options per email to historikertag@uni-goettingen.de, indicating your request by including Historikertag exhibition booking in the subject line. If this is not possible, please send your documents by regular mail to the address mentioned below. After the optioning stage of the booking process is finished, we will allocate the individual booth units in accordance with the management of the German Association of Historians (VDH). If we are not able to meet your wishes, we will contact you directly before assigning a different area. Starting February 1, we will be offering a second opportunity to sign up for options on vacant exhibition booths where you will be able to place options on the remaining units. This stage of the booking procedure will be ending February 28.

Exhibition Space Conditions 2 Page 23 Complimentary Services Entry in Exhibitor s List: By booking a booth unit or area, your company will be included in the list of exhibitors, which is going to be published in the conference program and on our homepage. It is possible to feature a link to your website, should you desire so. Power Supply: If you wish, we will be providing you with a power connection at your booth free of charge. Security: During opening hours from 8AM and 6PM exhibitors will be responsible for their own booths. We will attend to the security in the hours the building is closed, which will be between 10PM and 6AM; we will also arrange for surveillance of the exhibition between 6-8AM. Please contact us in case you need to safely store any hightech equipment. Internet: The central lecture hall complex is equipped with Wi-Fi. You will be getting individual access codes as you arrive. Services Subject to Cost Tables: We will be able to provide tables to a limited extent, if requested. Be aware that allocation will be conducted in chronological order. Miscellaneous Furniture: If you need any other furnishings, we are happy to place an order for you with our local booth builder. Compendium and order form will be sent to you after your booking is completed. Staff: Please contact us in case you need additional staff to support your activities at the exhibition. Attendance Fee Please be aware that, according to custom, we are obliged to charge your staff a discounted attendance fee.

4. The Community Booth Page 24 Description The publisher's trade exhibition will incorporate one community booth. Its purpose is to offer an opportunity to present individual publications without the need to attend the conference. Benefits Support: We will set up and look after the community booth and provide customer support during the whole conference. Entry in Exhibitor s List: By booking space at the community booth, your company will be included in the list of exhibitors, which is going to be published in the conference program and on our homepage. It is possible to feature a link to your website, should you desire so. Prices The charge for using the community booth depends on the number of books you wish to display. Please consider the table below for details. 1-3 books 35,- per book excl. VAT 4-7 books 30,- per book excl. VAT 8-10 books 27,- per book excl. VAT 11 books and more 25,- per book excl. VAT Booking process You may send your entries for the community booth immediately, preferably via email. Please contact us at historikertag@unigoettingen.de, indicating the matter by including Historikertag booking community booth in the subject line. If this is not possible, please send your documents by regular mail to the address mentioned below. Your entries need to be submitted by August 15, 2014. Conditions The books you wish to display at the community booth need to be sent directly to our house and cannot arrive later than September 13, 2014. All shipping costs lie with the exhibiting publisher, including return postage fee.
