Frequently asked questions about the student residence ESZTERHÁZY KÁROLY UNIVERSITY KÁROLY RÓBERT CAMPUS AT GYÖNGYÖS KÁROLY RÓBERT STUDENT RESIDENCE For the accommodation of students participating in the international mobility programme there are 30 beds available in the Károly Róbert Student Residence on the Károly Róbert Campus in Gyöngyös in accordance with the provisions of regulations of the Student Requirements (SR). For further students accommodation can only be provided depending on vacant beds. 1. What is the procedure of moving into the student residence and between what time is it possible to move in on a given day? What should you take with you when moving in? In the Campus at Gyöngyös there is no constraint, we take into account what time the student arrives. We receive in advance the date of arrival of the student from the NKK, which we forward to the reception. The student must take 1 photograph, which must be handed over at the reception for the photographic registry, which the resident fills in on the spot, and then receives the key to the room. The NKK should disclose not only the date of arrival but the expected departure date as well because the latter must also be recorded in the Neptun. 2. What is the procedure of moving out of the student residence and between what times is it possible to move out on a given day? The moving-out must be carried out during business hours. The student must indicate the leaving date in advance (2 working days in advance) at the reception. 3. Whom should I contact if anything goes wrong with the room, the room-mates or if I see any problem in the common premises? By default, any technical problem relating to the room has to be indicated at the reception. Problems relating to room-mates should be indicated to a colleague of the NKK, because he was the one who had distributed the rooms. In all other cases contact your mentor. 4. What am I expected to do if I want to leave the student residence during the term? You shall act in accordance with Question 2. 5. How to pay the residence fee? Via the Neptun system. Stipendium students do not pay student residence fee. 6. Is it possible to pay the residence fee in cash? No, it isn t. 7. Is it possible to pay the residence fee for more than one month in advance? No, it is not possible. The fee to be paid is charged on a monthly basis in the Neptun system.
8. Can I pay only the half of the fee if I want to move out at the beginning or in the middle of the month? No, you cannot. The full amount must be paid. 9. Whom shall I indicate to the date of my moving-out? See Question 2. 10. What is the deadline to pay the residence fee? As agreed in the General Terms and Conditions: The students shall be obliged to pay the monthly residence fee until the twentieth day (20th) of the month via a payment order in the Neptun system. If the twentieth day of the month is not a working day, the first working day following it becomes the deadline for the payment of the residence fee. 11. What happens if I do not pay the residence fee? If the Student does not meet these payment obligations until the above date (s)he shall pay an amount increased with a default fee specified in the Student Requirements. That is: Default fee: 2500 HUF/item the default fee in failure of complying with the obligation to pay recovery/full tuition, student accommodation/residence fee or any other fees (10.001 HUF and above) by the deadline Neither inscription for the courses nor application for the exams is possible; furthermore the official certificate shall not be issued about the successful completion of the term/school year in the Neptun system. 12. Whom to contact in the event of sudden illness? Is there a medical service in the building? There is no student medical service or an emergency unit in any of the halls of residences of the University. Is there a refreshment room or a beverage machine in the building? Yes, there is a drink bar in the A building of the student residence with a 0-24h service. 15. Is the building accessible for students with reduced mobility? Yes, it is. The NKK shall indicate in advance if the student requires a room for a student with reduced mobility. 16. Is there a gate closure time or can the residents enter and leave the building at any time? The gates are locked between 23:00 and 06:00.
At the request of the security service identity must be proved with a photographic ID document. 17. The rooms can be opened with a key or with a magnetic card? Is there a security for these items? The rooms can be opened with a key. In the event of loss 2500 HUF shall be paid. 18. How many beds are there in the rooms? Students are accommodated in double rooms or rooms for 3. 19. Is there a bathroom in every room? No, there is not. Rooms with wash-hand basins are also available. 4 such rooms share a water facility including 2 toilets, 2 basins and 2 showers. 20. Is there a hairdryer in the room? No, there is not. 21. Are bed linen and towel provided? We provide bed linen and cover but not towels. 22. How often is there a bed linen/towel change? There is only bed linen change. B building: every odd week from Tuesday to Thursday between 7:00 and 14:00. 23. Is it allowed to decorate the room? No, it is not allowed. 24. Are there curtains, shutters or blinds? There are curtains. 25. Is it allowed to smoke in the rooms? If not, where is it allowed? It is strictly forbidden to smoke in the building in accordance with the law on smoking. The smoking area is in front of the building. 26. Is it allowed to organise a party in the common premises? It is only allowed with the specific authorisation of the residence manager for exceptional occasions and in accordance with the conduct policy. 27. Is there a parking possibility around? Parking is possible but we do not ensure the guarding of the car park. 28. Is there a catering service in the hall of residence? No, there is not. There is lunch service in the canteen of the main building of the campus. Opening hours: from Monday to Friday (on working days) between 11:30 and 14:30. Bank cards are accepted. Sandwiches can be bought in the refreshment room in
the main building of the campus. Opening hours: from Monday to Friday between 7:30 and 16:00. On Saturdays: between 7:30 and 12:00. Only cash is accepted. 29. If I use the common premises (e.g. the kitchen), am I expected to put things away after use? Yes, you are expected to put things back to their places, to wash up the dishes you used, to clean the cooker, to take the garbage to the trash facility next to the building. The hall of residence assumes no responsibility for the loss of any objects left unattended in the kitchen. 30. Are there cleaning tools in the room? No, there aren t. Cleaning tools (broom, dust pan, mop and mop bucket, wiping cloth) and cleaning supplies must be provided by the residents. Students must clean their rooms. 31. Is room cleaning can be ordered as a paid service? No, it cannot be ordered. 32. Are there vacuum cleaners, irons and ironing boards? If there are, is there a renting fee for them? Iron and ironing board can be required for the time of the activity. The rent is free for the residents. 33. Is there a washing facility and a washing machine? If there is, is it free to use? Washing is provided as a service during the opening hours of the Laundry (from 7:00 to 14:00 on weekdays). Price: from 1000 HUF depending on how dirty are the clothes to be washed. 34. Is there Wi-Fi in the rooms and on the common premises? Wired Internet is available at the desks. The cable must be provided by the resident. 35. Is there a reading lamp in the room? 36. Is there a refrigerator in the room? 37. Are there a studying-room and/or a library in the building? No, there isn t. 38. What equipment, machines and dishes are there in the kitchen? An electric cooker, an electric oven and a microwave oven are available in the kitchen. Dishes, cutlery, plates, glasses must be provided by the resident. 39. Is there a separate waste collection? Where is the garbage to be taken?
Separate waste collection: a waste glass bin can be found on the premises of the Student Residence. Residents must provide for the trash to be taken out to the trash facility (next to the building). 40. Is it allowed to throw toilet paper into the toilets? Yes, it is. But you must not dispose of sanitary towels and tampons into the toilets. 41. Is the toilet a squat toilet or a Western-style toilet? There are Western-style toilets. 42. Are the floors coeducational or boys and girls live on separate floors? All the floors in the hall of residence are coeducational. 43. Are there coeducational rooms? Is it allowed to share a room with my friend/my sweetheart of the opposite sex? If double rooms are available and the number of beds allows, it is allowed. 44. Am I allowed to receive guests? If I am, am I to report it? Do I have to pay for the guest staying for night? It is possible to receive visitors during the day between 8h and 23h. The visitor s identification document with a photo shall be given to the receptionist. Occasionally residents are allowed to receive guests for the night in their rooms provided that the room-mates have consented to it and the resident makes notice of the visit at the reception. The fee for receiving guests is 2000 HUF/person/night. In other cases the visitor may have recourse to the accommodation required at the reception as a guest for the night for a specific fee. 45. Is it possible to have a room of my own? No, it is not possible. 46. What additional service may be required in the student residence? Residents may use the fitness-room in the A building of the student residence. The key is available at the reception of the A building.
