In scope of 6-year-project, 2015-2020, launching the project in the initial year of 2015, DoCoMoMo Japan together with ICOMOS ISC 20c provide a common ground, in this November in Tokyo to exchange ideas and set individual tasks and goals to make positive contributions for the project. 1
Having a support through the Japan Foundation for the year 2015, DoCoMoMo Japan chapter and ICOMOS Japan National Committee takes a lead in its operation. The 2015 project scope include: 1) Inaugural international roundtable meeting scheduled in October 30 th - November 3 rd Two professionals from each of the 10 ASEAN countries, and board members from ICOMOS ISC 20 th C and DoCoMoMo International will be invited to participate this round table and colloquium scheduled from October 31 to November 3 rd. In addition, since International ICOMOS aptly holds its board meeting and its annual general assembly in Fukukoka, Japan from October 24 through 30, 2015, participants are expected to attend these meetings as well. Inaugural international roundtable meeting detail The events (Oct 30-Nov2) are organized by International Meeting Organizing Committee formed under auspices of DoCoMoMo Japan, assisted by Japan ICOMOS National Committee, and co-organized by the Japan Foundation, with technical assistance by ICOMOS ISC 20c, DoCoMoMo International. The objective of this roundtable meeting is to bring together representatives of all ASEAN nations and modern heritage experts to develop a five year plan to support the protection, conservation and promotion of modern heritage monuments and sites in south-east Asia. This will involve sharing best practice conservation methodologies and experience within the ASEAN nations, promotion of modern heritage and capacity building in three key areas: Documentation, identification and research priorities needed to recognize significant heritage places of the Twentieth century; Managing and sustaining significant modern heritage places, best practice conservation planning and protection; Interpretation and presentation: initiatives for promoting and communicating the importance of ASEAN s significant modern cultural heritage. Participants will be asked to present at the symposium for 10 minutes on their nations priorities in one of these three issues mentioned above, and to provide suggestions for initiatives and conservation action priorities for Twentieth Century Heritage in ASEAN Countries and Japan with a view to promoting modern heritage conservation within the region over the next 5 years. The final session of the meeting will identify opportunities for Twentieth Century Heritage Conservation Initiatives and priorities for the proposed five year project plan. ISC20C will assist in the identification of ASEAN national representatives to participate in the symposium, who will also be encouraged to participate in the activities of ICOMOS ISC20C. 2
